3G Fuzzyband Downgrader is now available in cydia. This should be used instead of 3G Baseband Downgrader for downgrading the baseband on phones containing the 5.8 bootloader.
Benefits over original downgrader:
- Does version checking, will only downgrade if phone is eligible
- Downgrades all versions of baseband from 2.30.03 to 4.26.08 (3.0 beta5)
- Reports current bootloader version on screen
The original downgrader was a possibly dangerous app, as it relied on a failed downgrade to decide whether downgrading was possible. Anytime you run BBUpdaterExtreme you are potentially doing damage to the modem, so the version checking in this app minimizes the chances of accidently corrupting the baseband.

@mark: queryversion should not cause any damages to the phone, in fact it’s what fuzzyband is currently using to do version checking (though we are changing that in the upcoming release), the original 3g downgrader did an actual update without ever doing the queryversion in the first place

You need to go into settings and toggle airplane mode on-off, this will cause your phone to turn off cell signal and then search for it again once you turn off the airplane mode. Hope this helps:)
way faster than waiting for the iphone to manually do it.

I had a similar problem…my wifi stopped working after that. I just decided to take my iphone (5.9BL) back to the apple store then they gave me a new one…lol but the new one had boot loader 6.02

I live in UK bootloader is 5.09, carrier is Orange and currently I have a £500 Ipod.. Great!!!
I don’t understand why the bootloader cannot be changed. Why can’t the firmware be flashed? I presume the bootloader is software. I have had to resort to my old HTC Titan II and it is sh*t compared to an Iphone 3g…

Everyone with 5.09 forget about it ever being unlocked :P The focus will be on the newer basebands, so if you have 5.09 you would just upgrade to a newer Baseband to unlock. BUT that is currently not available.
A new update to FuzzyBand will be coming out as soon as Apple Releases Beta 6, The new update should feature a Baseband Upgrade for users running anything less then Modem Firmware 02.28.00. I suggested this addition to w1kedZ and DHowett because of Pwnagetool, which doesn’t upgrade the BaseBand when Upgrading an iPhone 3G to 2.2.1 from any version previous to 2.2.0.
In other words if you are running 2.1.0 and use Pwnagetool to update to 2.2.1 you will still be left with the Modem Firmware from version 2.1.0.
But running FuzzyBand will correct this mistake and update the baseband to 02.28.00
Both w1kedZ and DHowett did a great job on this,
I’m very pleased to see a proper release of a 3G baseband downgrader.

It really sucked to deal with. Is there a group working on bootloader downgrader for 6.4 or anything, more people are having troubles then having fun out here. Thank you! Fuzzyband worked perfectly to downgrade baseband on my iPhone 3G, bootloader 5.08, which came with 2.2.1 firmware and baseband 2.30.03 already installed. Guess I got lucky in a sense; my original 3G pooped out and Apple apparently replaced it with a refurb (one of those with a “5K” serial no.) that had the latest firmware/baseband yet an older bootloader.
This was part of my first jailbreak ever (still need to unlock) and I do have a question. I use Windows and thus have no ability to create custom 2.2.1 firmware. So, is there a proper way to do some kind of a backup (i.e., after Fuzzybanding) that would allow me to easily restore the Quickpwned firmware, the downgrade, yellowsn0w (once installed) and my applications and settings if my iPhone starts acting weird?

Same mistake. My nephew upgraded for me my iPhone to 2.2.1 from iTunes. He didn’t knew that I used yellowsn0w to keep my iPhone going. It worked great when I had 5.08 and now I’m just looking at it. Damn!

Thanks for the wonderful App. Since I hard bootloader 5.8 on the Iphone 3G, I could able to successfully downgrade Basebadn to 2.28 and then used YelloSn0w to unlock it. It worked like a gem.
But, now I see a different problem now. I was trying to install T-Mobile US Carrier Hack from Cydia to have my T-Zones internet set up. And I see the below error message and cannot install the App. Appreciate if you can let me know how I can fix this problem have my T-zone internet work.
“/var/cache/apt/archives/tmobile-us-carrier_1.0_iphones-arm.deb subporcess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1″
Also, I have tried to resinstall Cydia from Quickpwn and I was not luck enought to install the app. Thank you.

He posted a link which opens up a forum that lists the process to downgrade then use yellowsn0w to unlock, u end up with an unlocked iphone??????!!!!!!! Does it work really?????!!!!!? Pls advice……. I have bootloader 6.04 (jailbroken but not unlocked) but if this works I will try it.

OMG I done some research for quite a while now and I was praying to god that I had BL 5.9 and I was shocked to find my Iphone had 06.02 BL OMG I came so close But its ok im using a rebel sim card but it’s not the same as have an unlocked iphone PLZ PLZ team if you can unlock 06.02 !

WreckedPhone, if u have no signal, go to settings/general/network and turn 3G off. Don’t turn 3G back on until you’re in an area that has 3G coverage.

*Firstly I installed Itunes V8.2 (latest) and logged onto with my account
* removed simcard from Iphone
* Put the phone on restore mode
1) press home and power for 10sec
2) keeping the home key pressed let go off power button and keep home button pressed for 10sec
* Sync Iphone with Itunes
*click on restore on Itunes
THIS WILL TAKE APPROX 15MIN BUT WILL PUT YOUR PHONE BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULT SETTING.
* When restore finishes it will promt you to insert simcartd to finish installation of. Unplug device insert simcard and plug it back in.
SORTED.

I fuzzy am new to all of this, but I think I am on the right track. I have a 3g Iphone. Installed Fuzzyband in an attempt to downgrade the bootloader. My bootloader is 06.04. Am I right in assuming that I can’t downgrade yet? Installed Fuzzyband in an attempt to downgrade the bootloader. My bootloader is 06.04. Am I right in assuming that I can’t downgrade yet? Also, I was told that I could not downgrade and if so, would you recomend a site to purchase software from? it is my frist iphone i upgrade it on itunes, or will it be able to downgrade or unlock some time down the line, please let me know what to do Thanks!

is there any update on the 5.09, this is killing me, i have no phone, can you pay someone to take your iphone apart and change the inside. might sound like a stupid question but i heard a place in england does it. any1 know, please contact me garywilko@hotmail.com

A simple temporary solution for 5.09 bootloaders and up, get a google voice account. im using that until 5.09 can be unlocked or downraded. (plus use gv mobile in cydia after you get the google voice invite)

I did downgrade my iphone with Fuzzyband, it gives me that Downgrading will only work with baseband bootloader 05.08 - my bootloader version is 06.02,baseband version 05.11.07, iphone version 3.1.2, any solution? Thanks

Hi,
I’m a bit confused by all this, apologies people. I have jailbroken a 3g iphone that has never been updated past 3.0 on itunes, jailbreak was fine using custom 3.0 ipsw, I have modem 04.26.08 and version 3.0 (7A341) i’ve installed ultrasn0w but I just get dots where the carrier signal would be and no service? I have installed this fuzzyband thing and it says bootloader 5.09(G2M3S2, baseband ICE2-04.26.08, oS version 3.0 - you are ready for ultrasn0w… what am i missing? is there a way to tell if ultrasn0w has worked short of me being able to make a phone call?
