Plz help, I can’t add thebigboss source :(

“sort of” I think is because the cydia repo is being hammered, so u might get errors.

None of my repos were loading after I jailbreak, so I deleted thebigboss source and tried to add it again and I could not add it either :/

I’m not able to install ANY cydia packages, is says iOS Firmware>=3.1 or 4.0 etc, while I1m on 5.0.1
What the f*ck is wrong?
I have restored, but now bigboss repo is unavailable.
I’m f*cking freaked out now!

It seems many encounter issues getting BigBoss repo working after jailbreaking is done. It would be nice if someone from BigBoss could explain if it is a temp issue due to repo overload or perhaps there is a problem with the jailbreak itself.

I now getting an error with ibooks with new unteathered jailbreak iPhone4. Thought this had been fixed with earlier redsn0w

The traffic for cydia repositories is huge right now. So if you get any errors related to installation of package, I suggest you try later (or a few days later).

Not quite sure where to post this. I updated my iOS from jailbroken 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 today and used the untethered redsn0w to jailbreak it. Went well, took about 2 hours in total for my iP4, 32 GB unlocked at factory phone.

However, in “testing” all the apps out later….found that the photos app crashed the phone and mobile substrate put it into “safe mode”. Ran “crash reporter” but it give SO much information, hard to tell what went wrong. So…I uninstalled the ONE cydia app that was related to the camera/photo app…”STEALTH CAM” and voila…this was the problem. Apparently it isn’t compatible with iOS 5.0.1

So, if anyone has this issue…here you go…take off stealth cam

u need to restore, and after a clean restore use apple store to download ibook, before you use redsnow.

is anyone else having problems getting openssh to work after upgrading? i can’t seem to connect anymore, even from the device itself using iSSH to 127.0.0.1 – doesn’t ask for password, it immediately says connect refused. i also notice when i press the openssh toggle in sbssettings it will switch once (on/off) but immediately after that the button becomes stuck (can’t switch it back).

Some jailbroken applications don’t work yet and you should stay away from them for now.

ANIMATE using bootlogos will cause your iphone to go into safe mode. I had to reboot tethered to get out of safe mode and then delete animate.

RETINAAPPICONS will cause your iphone to go into safe mode also.

People just be patient, everyone is updating their phones with jailbreak and it is slowing the repo’s down from appearing on your phone. Let your phone rest after the jailbreak for a few hours and the repos will populate.

Apt backup is glitchy and doesn’t always save all packages/sources just load one by one

Cydia is backed up as the description states. Everyone take a chill pill. And if ure sources r not showing any packages go into ure packages and reinstall bigboss in the modify button.

install openssh separately from cydia will do :)

A few hours ago, only bigboss was down for me. But now modmyi zodttd are up and down as well. I am getting mostly “POSIX: Connection refused” or “POSIX: Operation timed out” or “Cached Failure” errors…except for Big Boss, which has been giving me “Hash Sum mismatch” errors all day. Just an FYI in case that helps.

those who have a problem with big boss repo or any other repo on iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak i found the way how you guys can fixed it
1: open cydia and click search
2: search a package “Steffwiz” and download it
3: download an other package “All Sources”
4: after its finish downloading go to manage and check your sources now they are working it works for me i hope it works for you too

Doesnt work, only allows you to see the packages but you cannot install them, due to an http 505 error.:/

The workaround to the BigBoss being down is right here on this site: Go to the apps section and find the debian package for the app you’re looking for and download it to your computer. Install iFile on your phone and run its web server. Use a web browser to upload the app to the /var/mobile folder (easiest spot).

Open mobile terminal and do the following:

1. $su
2. (enter password)
3. #dpkg -i
(it will install)
4. respring or restart the phone.

If you don’t know much about terminal, I wouldn’t even bother, but if you do, and you want your apps back, this works. All big boss apps are available here on the web, it’s only the repo that’s down.

I can add BigBoss & ModMyi from the Cydia page, but when I try to browse them in Manage:Sources, they are empty.

If I delete them then go to Cydia:More Sources and add BigBoss, it downloads Releases and Packages (13 lines total) then sits there for a long time then says:

POSIX: Operation timed out
POSIX: Operation timed out

ITS WORKING

What I really want to know is how did you figure this out? Also this forum has alot of people with this problem and people are being mislead to believe that the servers are busy, just seems there was a problem with cydia getting the repo files. as soon as a downloaded both packages raheel said to it showed the list of the big boss repo no problem and clicking on the big boss repo in the manage sources showed all the apps. I then was able to install my jailbreak apps such as activator. So for this untethered jailbreak for 5.0.1 on my iphone4 is working great! Thanks to all who worked on this jailbreak!!

I am experience the same problem. The interesting thing is that on iPad everything works fine and I have full access to the bigboss repo. After I deleted and reinsralled the bigboss Sorce I got an Error ‘… Hash mismatch …’ and the source is still empty

I managed to install Winterboard in my 5.0.1 untethered jailbroken iPhone 4 by reinstalling “Cydia Installer” first. The reason for this is because the default Cydia installation after jailbreaking does have empty repositories for BigBoss and ModMyi.com. After reinstalling “Cydia Installer” package, BigBoss and ModMyi.com now have entries (although cydia.zodttd.com and Dev Team repositories are still empty and will require a proper fix from the developers) . Install Winterboard again and you should be able to complete the installation this time.

SSH toggle can be used to stop ssh but not to restart it :(
Is there a big drawback in letting ssh always on ?

After trying to install “Steffwiz” it didn’t install properly and showed sone sort of freaking error but upon checking Bigboss all packages were restored ! Hope it works for u guys…

Trying to download raheels fix now. Steffwiz is taking a while to load, but Im hoping itll fix the errors I keep getting. I cant even restore my cydia apps from most of the repos i had. the only one working for me is xsellize and i think the standard one.

hi, need some help, i accidentally delete thebigboss repo in cydia sources, how can i get it back, im running iphone 4 ios 5.0.1 Untethered, thanks.

Try again right after you get that error, that error is becuase the servers are full and couldn’t fetch the data, when I get that error I just try and download it again right away and it usually works within a couple tries, hopenthis helps.

Same goes for me, The http errors are due to the congestion on the server so just keep trying and it will work. All is working well with the new untethered jailbreak :)). I have found that I cannot use PDAnet 5.30 thou, when trying to turn on the wifi for tethering it basically doesn’t enable, anyone eles having this issue?

If you were having that many problems, you either did something wrong with your jailbreak, or just didn’t know what you were doing and were in way over your head. You could try researching more rather than throwing a temper tantrum (with poor grammar) on a forum. And using “gay” to imply stupid? What are you, 10? Grow up, kid.

Here’s how I did it:
Download the latest redsn0w 0.9.10b1
Download the correct 5.0.1 firmware for you phone.
Run resn0w and choose “extras” and then “Custom IPSW” – Preserve baseband with a custom IPSW.
It will build the custom firmware and save it, you then restore that firmware to your phone in iTunes (option + click restore to choose). (backup first!)
Once you’ve successfully restored your custom 5.0.1 firmware, run redsn0w again and choose “jailbreak.”
And that’s it. The untethered jailbreak is built-in to this version of redsn0w.
You can get your Gevey working the same as you did before.

I’m not getting the packages from BigBoss I have redownloaded plenty of times and Im just not getting them. what should I Do?

I can not install SBSettings. I have an iPod Touch 4G running iOS 5.0.1 with an untethered jailbreak. I jailbroke, then rejailbroke and restored, then jailbroke once again. Every time I try to install SBSettings I get “HASH SUM MISMATCH”. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!

Everyone is having this same issue because of the huge load. It took me a dozen attempts at refreshing to get it to finally download the repository packages so bigboss showed apps in it. Only then could I succeed in doing searches.

Also, if you’re using aptbackup or openbackup, expect them to fail to install some apps (silently) because the servers are so bogged down.

I’ve run openbackup restore 3 times and each time it gets a few more. For others, I just go to cydia and install until it goes in.

But make sure you see apps in the repository before trying any aptbackup/openbackup/etc… recoveries.

Nevermind I got it. Just gotta keep trying :)

I, too, am having this issue.

From a programmers standing poing GO FUCK YOUR SELF. They are not free paid apps. they are apps that someone craked. I hope that repo won’t go up again.

Any chance itunes wifi sync can be added to the available options in activator? Seems like there should be a better way then trolling through settings.

Error Cydia source FIX

Use either iFile or SSH into your iPhone. Go to /etc/apt/sources.list.d and open cydia.list using Text Viewer. Now delete the source that you have emtered wrongly then save it.

Next go to /var/lib/apt/lists/ and delete ALL files inside that folder except te folder “partial”. Now open the folder “partial” and delete all the files there. Last step, go to /var/lib/cydia/ and delete “metadata.plist”. Exit SSH (or iFile) and respring. Now you can see a difference on your Cydia. :)

After which, the big boss problem was solved!

Nope… even my iPhone 4 running 4.3.3 will not download the latest packages from BigBoss… i think it’s completely offline.

You guys are idiots franckly -_- . first if the winterboard’s screen is white , just redownload it that worked for me . if you can’t download preference loader and libhide , erase the big boss source from manage and then go the the cydia homepage , more package sources and then the first source will be the big boss . download it and it will be fixed . i’ll answer to all the other bugs cause i had more than 100 bugs with my iphone 4 ( version 5.0.1 ) and i downloaded the jailbreak ( unthatered or something like that but it still worked . ) if you have more bugs just write and i’ll try to answer

if someone downloaded installous and all his apps dissapeared , just shut your iphone completely then restart and they will reappear

Got bigboss repo now..everything’s back to normal!! yayyyy..just reload cydia all fellow jailbreakers..

Unlock worked fine for me on my Iphone4. But xBackup failed to restore cause it couldn’t find a backup, even when I restored my files in Itunes.

Also the biggest problem with my Iphone is that the majority of the Apps (Angry Birds, Facebook, etc) fail to load. They close straight away.

after adding the big boss source, i try to download sbsettings and it repeatedly tells me “cannot comply”. ive tried everything from deleting the big boss source and re-adding it over and over..any suggestions?? thanks man

my suggest, restore your iphone, then do the jailbreak again with redsn0w_win_0.9.10b2, and then all your problem will be solve, the same thing happens to me after i did the jb with redsn0w_win_0.9.10b1, sorry my english

enter in settings , general , accessibility then click on zoom and put it on . to zoom double tap with three fingers , to move around the screen in zoom mode drag three fingers and to change zoom with three fingers double tap and drag up or down and finnally , to get out of zoom mode , just double tap again with three fingers . i really hope this help . if it does tell me .

iDevice goes in safe mode using remove background sbsetting with ios 5.0.1 if its merged in the notification center.

Hi everyone. Please help. I forgot to preserve my baseband before updating to iOS5.0.1 .. I was able to do the jailbreak untethered no problem, but can’t get the gevey unlock to work. The phone tells me I need a SIM from a supported carrier. Do I need to wait for ultrasn0w to find an unlock AFTER it’s been jailbroken? Or is there a way to do this now? Any help at will be appreciated. Thanks!

well , if you want , download everything you need when you delete SBSetings and when you have all you need , put it back . i hope that helped you

the jailbreak and facetime aren’t related at all . it’s a whole other problem you’re having and i don’t think it’s because you jailbroke your ipod . ( try to rejailbreak )

wait a sec . do you have SBSetings ?? if you have it just give up cause SBSetings is what”s making 75% of the problems and if you don’t want to delete it you’ll just need to live with it .

just when it’s not into the computer , click on the power button for 3 secs , then click on the home button but don’t remove your finger from the power button for 15 secs and finally , remove your finger from the power button but don’t remove it from the home button and wait .

I actually got the bigboss repo to work for me, after three days of agony.

What I did was remove the bigboss repo (which was empty first) and then added it through the cydia mainpage, “More Package Sources.”
Installed and then for some reason the bigboss repo was up and working for me.

I’m untetered with the redsnow JB.

Help!!! I installed it on my Ipod touch 4G and now none of my apps work that I got using cydia.
(example: none of my installs apps), I can’t even open cydia to uninstall. All apps crash. Do I have to restart using redsnOw or what?

if you want you can delete cydia from your computer with the device you used ( limera1n , blackra1n , redsnow etc.)

Hello I can’t find preference loader on cydia. Anyone know what happen?

I just came to say I jb my iPhone 4 2 days ago using redsnow after updating to ios 5 , everything works fine ;) all repos in Cydia work for me perfect as per usual, installous works fine, sbssettings works a charm altho certain toggles will not work and sbsettings push toggle caused a respring every time, and so did graviboard

I was having major issues after the untethered install with installing almost anything from Cydia. Nearly everything I tried to download told me my firmware versions weren’t compliant. I re-installed cydia installer and there were several error messages. I had to try 3 times before cydia installer installed without errors. I can now download and install most things.

My I pod was jailbroken I bought ios 5.0.1 um games to play
