You can configure the action to activate PhySwitch using Activator (in Preferences.app). PhySwitch works with iPhone 3G/3GS/4 and iPod touch 3g/4g. Requires firmware 4.0 or higher. Available in Cydia Store for US$1.99.

It’s very simple to use. After downloading and installing the .pkg file, if you press any Apple Remote’s button, you should listen your Mac saying what you pressed. There are just test commands using the “say” trick.

To set a custom action for each button, type “customote -s” in the Terminal and follow the screen instructions. For more commands, please type “customote”.

Customote just works for Macs, because the Apple Remote is an IR Remote Control, so, a IR sensor is needed to read the control’s data, and, the iPhone doesn’t have an IR sensor, but I found a way to use your Apple Remote to send commands to your iPhone. Here is how:

1. You should have Customote installed and running to continue.
2. Open the Terminal.
3. Type ” customote -s BUTTON_NUMBER ‘ssh root@youriphoneip COMMAND_TO_RUN_IN_YOUR_IPHONE’ ” (you can see a list of button numbers by pressing “customote -s”)
4. Customote will save the action for the button BUTTON_NUMBER.
5. If you press the button BUTTON_NUMBER in your Apple Remote, your iPhone should be running the command COMMAND_TO_RUN_IN_YOUR_IPHONE.

If you want, for example, to reboot your iPhone when pressing the “Next Music” button, you should type: ” customote -s 2 ‘ssh root@youriphoneip reboot’ “.

You need to have your phone Jailbroken, with OpenSSH installed, and ofcourse, with the WiFi turned on to use this.

I did a “block” of commands that you should use to install it. Open the Terminal, paste this and press Enter (You should be asked for your password: type it):

sudo gem install net-ssh && curl -O http://www.iBlogeek.com/downloads/RMPassword.zip && unzip RMPassword.zip && mv RMPassword.app/ /Applications/ && rm RMPassword.zip && echo ‘installed!’

NOTE: Do NOT install this application without using this block of commands. Otherwise, It will not work, because a Ruby Gem is needed to run this application.

Now, the application is installed in the /Applications/ folder. Open it and double-click RMPassword (with the lock icon). Follow the screen instructions.

Many people know that the iTunes backup is not good. Sometimes, you lost your contacts, SMS, etc. Thinking about this, I developed a tool called BackToUp. What it do, is create an alternative backup of your iPhone that is independent of iTunes.

The program is pretty good and make the backup of:

• Contacts
• Text Messages (SMS)
• Bookmarks and History of Safari
• Call History
• Calendar
• Notes
• Bookmarks and History of Maps
• General Preferences (ringtone, etc)

The 3G Baseband Downgrade is so simple to be used because there’s a GUI! BigBoss helped us with the GUI and bugfixing the downgrade script, doing a fantastic work, thanks! EvilPenguin done the .sh scripts for the Downgrade and I (pH) merged everything!

The 3G Baseband Downgrade just works on iPhones 3G with Bootloader 5.8, that can be detected using minicom. If you don’t know how to use minicom, there’s a “simple” way to know if you are 5.8 or 5.9 (but this is not 100% sure). If your iPhone was manufactured before September (2008), you are 5.8. Otherwise, you are 5.9 (that can’t be downgraded).

The tool (3G Baseband Downgrade) is now on TheBigBoss repo. Just download it from Cydia, open the app and click Go. Wait a moment and you’ll see if your iPhone was sucefully downgraded or not. Working great, you must try it, :P .

WARNING: This tool is NOT a toy. Just use it if you can’t use Yellowsn0w on your 2.2.1 iPhone 3G. Otherwise, DO NOT INSTALL IT JUST TO TEST! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Edit: if you have bootloader 5.9, this should not cause any harm. It should simply fail. You will then have to reboot your iPhone and should be back up to where you were before running the tool.

Hey Guys, here is pH (Pedro Henrique Franceschi). Today, I developed a tool to Downgrade your iPhone Baseband from 02.30.03 to 02.28.00 based on GeoHot’s method. The tool is called pHaseBanDowngrader and works great. You may need to downgrade your baseband to use Yellow Sn0w to unlock. As you may know, YellowSn0w only works on 2.28 baseband. Previously, those of you that upgraded to 2.2.1 could not use YellowSn0w. Now you can.

Okay, here is some simple instructions about how to use it:

1. Download the .zip in the end of the post.
2. SSH into your iPhone and put the downloaded folder (phasebandowngrader) inside the folder /Applications/.
3. In MobileTerminal.app, type “login” and enter “root” as user, the default password is “alpine”.
4. Now, type “cd /Applications/phasebandowngrader && ./phasebandowngrader”. Follow the screen instructions.
5. Enjoy!

Many guys from irc.osx86.org had tested it and they are loving the downgraded iPhone. To use that tool, you need to have an iPhone with the Bootloader 5.8. If your iPhone was manufactured before September 2008, you are 5.8. If your device is 2.2.1 OOB (Out Of Box), you can’t downgrade the Baseband because you have bootloader 5.9.

So, during the day, I developed a GUI for Redsn0w Beta for Mac OS X, using Cocoa and Interface Builder! Now, it’s working great. Well, I don’t know if this is the first GUI in the world for Redsn0w Beta, but, certain is one of them, :) . Okay, now, let’s see the app!

When you open the app, you can select your language (Portuguese/English).

Now, you’ll see a window talking about the DFU Mode. If you want, you can use a Timer in C++ to help you putting your device in DFU by clicking on the button called “Start the Timer!”.

Now, you just need to press the button “Pwn the iPod touch 2G!” and press Command + V and press Enter to Jailbreak your iPod touch 2G!
