Forgot to mention but you use 4.0 not 4.0.1 even though you have 4.0.1 on your device.

I had the same problem took me like 3 days to figure out that my problem was windows 7.I thought just for the *ell of it i would try it on my xp pro and it worked like a charm.I don’t know if this helps but it was my experiance.

wolfi and iamse7en… you two are both incorrect. which i guess would make you morons. you do not need to be on a specific firmware to obtain shsh blobs for it. you don’t even have to be jailbroken. just do some research on the topic – or like BigBoss said just get TinyUmbrella and use it. just like Rajiv said, he’s on 3.1.3 but has saved shsh blobs for 4.0 and 4.0.1… then, stop spewing incorrect information.

Not sure where to post this but it seemed like the logical choice as this is about the 4.0.1 firmware. I’m trying to jailbreak my 3g for the first time. It has the 4.0.1 firmware and yet every time I try to use the redsn0w_win_0.9.5b5-5 and the 4.0.1 firmware restore it keeps saying unable to recognize specified IPSW. Can anybody help with this problem? Much appreciated

I’ve upgraded three 3gs’s to 4.0 with great success! No issues. Up to the individual person I guess.

Actually, as far as I know, there is no stable jailbreak for the 3GS. I suggest upgrading to 3.1.3 and using Spirit to jailbreak. Wait until someone creates a stable jailbreak for it and then upgrade and store your SHSHs with Cydia or umbrella.

Hi guys. Sorry if I annoy anyone, but I am using a 3gs iphone on 4.0. my phone is factory unlocked so I did not have to unlock it. Previously I had jb it using spirit on 3.1.2 and I had saved my SHSH in Cydia. Now do I have to upgrade to 4.0.1 in order to JB it? and do I have to save my SHSH again using firmware umbrella. Thank you.

Hi,
I jailbroken yesterday evining my Iphone 3GS 323GB.
I used Spirit, also i used umbrella to save SHSH in cydia server.
I noted something strange when i saved my SHSH via umbrella.
Today i tried to resave again the SHSH to track the msgs:
When i connected the device she was recognized with IOS 3.1.3 BB 5.12.01 i clicked the save SHSH button and Cydia replied with SHSH saved for IOS 4.0/4.0.1
Using the advanced options i tried to modify to 3.1.3 but when i retried to save the cydia server replied with save failed for IOS 3.1.3…
It was my first time that i tried to jailbreak my device and i haven’t any previous SHSH saved on cydia.
How to re-allign the IOS 3.1.3 with SHSH for the same version on cydia?
Must I pass to IOS 4.0.1?
I hope in any reply.
