I am still looking for a friend with a Mac that will let me create the custom ipsw file, but while looking around it seems that the procedure outlined in BB's Pwnage Guide would upgrade both the FW (to 2.2) and the baseband (to 02.28.00).

Evidently, to keep the baseband at 02.11.07 (and thereby maximize the chances of obtaining a software unlock in the foreseeable future, the "Expert Mode" must be selected, and there will be some kind of selection, probably a check-box of somekind, where the user can select or deselect "enable baseband update" and, of course, this should NOT be selected in order to keep the old baseband. Then, work through the procedure to create and save the customized FW 2.2, and then run a Shift-Restore in iTunes using the customized ipsw file.

BB, I'm sorry to be a little slow, but better safe than sorry.

I want to upgrade to FW 2.2 while keeping the old baseband. You say you updated the guides to upgrade to FW 2.2 and to jailbreak using the pwnage tool (PwnageTool_2.2.1), but the guide doesn't discuss whether the old baseband will be retained or not. Will the procedure you outline in the guide maintain the old baseband, or is a different procedure required (such as, using the expert mode)?

I am a Windows user and I intend to go over to a friend's house that is a Mac user to make myself a custom ipsw FW 2.2 file. I had the impression that I would have to use the expert mode, but that it was somewhat self-explanatory.

I would very much appreciate a quick reply to I don't go wrong! Frankly, I have a number of apps that I can't load anymore because they require FW 2.2 (e.g., AirSharing), so I have become somewhat impatient! Thanks.

Plot!

Did you keep the old baseband to maximize your chances of a soft unlock in the near future, or did you just upgrade to the new baseband when you moved to FW 2.2?

Does any one elses T-mobile carrier logo not work with the 2.2 upgrade?

I re-installed, and re-booted several times and it still won't show up.

Anyone else having this problem?
