Why Dont You Have Quickgold Installed??

Author: BigBoss  //  Category: Jailbreak

Quickgold has moved to the BigBoss Cydia Repository! Quickgold is one of my all-time favorite applications. I cited this as one of the reasons to jailbreak your iPhone. I can’t stress enough just how useful this app is.

Due to the way Cydia works, you will need to use the search in Cydia to find it.

What is Quickgold?
Quickgold takes its name from Quicksilver on OSX. When you install it, you get no icon. You launch it by tapping your home button. This is an application launcher, a contacts searcher, web clip launcher, SMS searcher. This thing preindexes your apps, contacts and such so that the search is instantaneous. You get find-as-you type results. It has zero load time since it binds to your home button. It does not contain any daemons and does not suck your battery down.

Let’s take a look at some screen shots. The shot on the left shows Quickgold as you launch it. It remembers your most recent selections as icons so you can just tap home, and tap the icon and go. Or, you can type in the search box (see shot on the right) and get instant results. In this case, I typed bo and it filtered bossprefs to the top. If I had a contact named bob smith, he would be the 2nd choice. Tapping bossprefs launches the app, tapping a contact calls him etc. Its great!

I find this app especially good with categories. Categories takes a while to load up. With the two apps together, you can put all your icons in folders. Then use quickgold to quickly launch something you know of or use category folders when you want to browse.

As I said, this is must-have. I strongly recommend installing it and trying it out.

Couldn’t agree more, if you do not have this installed, you are short changing your entire iPhone Experience.

I use this to dial all my contacts, bring up all apps, and what i love most about it is the ability to bring up Maps/Powerset from a command line, saves so much time when looking up directions…

That is part of my theme I made. The data is done with the web background and some javascript to grab the data and put it at the absolution position you see.

I am using iPhone 2G with firmware 2.2.2(5H11), I have installed QuickGold from Cydia. However, even if I pressed the HOME button many times, I cannot see the search screen. I don’t know why and how to fix it. Can anyone tell me how to remove QuickGold and hClipboard from my iPhone.

  11. Anonymous Says:

You can remove them by just going to Cydia and uninstalling them. Go to the file and hit modify on the top-right of the screen

Hm. Quickgold caues crashes for me (occasionally) on adding bookmarks, and consistently on deleting bookmarks. I had to remove it to cope with this (and get a little more memory back.)

It’s so cool that you’re trying to integrate it or make it play nice with Spotlight on OS 3.
