Edit: Today (March 10) I have removed this in exchange for an actual app that does the same thing but does not rely on cydia to copy the files. See “Firmware 3.1.3 App” in cydia, which is probably much safer and should fix / repair the problems some of you have had.
Today I released a firmware spoofer called “Firmware 3.1.3″. This of course doesn’t really update you to firmware 3.1.3. But since firmware 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 are so identical minus the jailbreak, it is close enough. If you install this then reboot, iTunes will even show you as running 3.1.3 and will stop bugging you.
This is perfect for setting up someone else’s iPhone that may accidentally update to 3.1.3 because it prevents iTunes from hounding you or prompting you for an update.
This also allows all those iTunes 3.1.3 only apps to install and work. I believe there are no actual API changes between iTunes 3.1.2 and 3.1.3, therefore this should allow all 3.1.3 apps to run.
Note: This does not really update you to 3.1.3. Instead it just tricks your device into thinking you are updated by updating the file at /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist. In general, I think firmware spoofing is a bad idea. But this is a unique time where many users are accidentally updating and losing their jailbreak. Therefore, this package will help prevent that.
Only supported on 3.1.2 since 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 are virtually the same. If you want to spoof firmware other than 3.1.2, you can manually edit the file listed above (assuming you know how). But do not expect everything to work fine doing this. Some apps require the newer firmware.
Uninstall to revert to firmware 3.1.2.

If I use this is it still possible to unlock with blacksnow as it don’t work 3.1.3 I know this app don’t actually upgrade to 3.1.3 but will it affect blacksnow unlock.

As it says, it does not actually update you to 3.1.3, it tricks the device into thinking you are at 3.1.3 so that you won’t accidentally upgrade in itunes or have problems installing appstore apps.

have an issue. installed this, and it seems push notificatins arnt happening anymore. Spacifically noticed when my mobile me didnt push me new emails like it normaly does. I tried removing it but instead of putting me back at 3.1.2, it says (null) (null) and the phone is really sluggish…
Reinstalled and phone is now usable again but still not getting push notifications.

Great tool for the people who cant quite get it thru their head to NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use the update option that itunes gives you.But for the not so itunes challenged people out there its really easy to just edit the .plist manually

Its in the location BigBoss spoke of above. Just use WinSCP to SSH into your phone or touch and navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist and edit the SystemVersion.plist
Dont forget you not only have to change your firmware version from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 but you also have to edit the build number from 7D11 (3.1.2) to 7E18 (3.1.3)

Installed this package, my phone is very slow. It auto remove my tethering. I uninstall your firmware 3.1.3 spoofer now my firmware says “n/a”, no bluetooth, itunes keep on wanting to authorize. I’m starting to think a restore is neccessary to get my phone back to normal.

Hello,
I installed this and now I have no connection anymore with my telephone provider. It says “no service”. I removed it but still have no service.
Have to say that when I installed it (and I have done this several times) Cydia everytime seems to crash before I can actually hit the “return to Cydia” button. But when I watch my packages, firmware 3.1.3 is there with a green mark. So it seems to me that installation worked well.

Unistall is not working, show firmware vercion N/A (done reboot) also kill bluetooth. Rock will not start (after install or remove it Rock now refuse to start) I also noted the phone is slow after remove. My phone is a 3GS 32GB.

To the person who is causing the trouble.
It is safe even if not panicking.
This application program is only rewritten in information on/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist to 3.1.3.
The trouble occurs because even Systemversion.plist is deleted when the application program is deleted.
1)The copy of Systemversion.plist is made while installed, the name is changed like Systemversion.plist1, and it puts it on the same directory.
2)Firmware 3.1.3 to uninstall.
Then, because Systemversion.plist is deleted, plist that changes the name a little while ago is changed into Systemversion.plist and former name.
3)To change 7E18 to 7D11, 3.1.3 to rewritten in 3.1.2 of plist.
4)Information returns to the former 3.1.2 when iPhone is rebooted, and Bluetooth appears in the setting.

The problem is when you remove it, it flat out DELETES the plist file. It does not replace it with the old one again, as a result the iPhone freaks out because systemversion.plist no longer exists. Had to manually replace it with a new one after I removed the program. Everything seems to be back to normal now except I can’t send mms… I could before I installed this. Bigboss, what does this app actually do, so that I may manually fix my phone to avoid a restore?Thanks

Please Help! After i installed it, my ‘Enable tethering on 3.12 GS’ patch wihich was installed via cydia, gave some problems. So i uninstalled the thetering patch and rebooted. Since than, my phone powers up but syays on the apple logo. So with help of the iphone pc suite, i could reach my iphone 3GS and in Apps, i tried reinstalling the tehering patch. Did did not work because it thinks that my iphone is a 3.13 phone. Than i uninstalled via Iphone PC Suite your Fake 3.13 patch. ‘this did not work because your uninstaller deleted the systemversion.plist file !. In Iphone PC suite, it doesn’t recoqnizes which firmware it is. So could please someone upload a virgin systemversion.plist for a Iphone 3GS 3.12 firmware ?
With this, my iphone is recoznized into pc suite as 3.12 again sothat i can install the thetering patch again. This is causing the problems that my iphone doesnt boot correctly!

The way I got around this was reinstalling the 3.1.3 app thing, and it will replace the systemversion.plist file. I then made a copy of it and renamed it something else. Then removed the bad patch, which deleated the plist file. Then all that was left to do is change the name of my copy, then edit it to make it say 3.1.2 build 7D11 and my phone started working again for the most part.
Only thing I havnt figured out yet is how to get it to let me SEND mms again, I can now recive MMS though.
Wish bigboss would log in and address this problem before he bricks any more phones. I know this app was supposed to HELP people, but goodness what a mess.

The only thing I could suggest to some of you who are having problems is read up on things before you install anything to your phone. I have an iphone 3gs jailbroke it with blackra1n and 3.1.2 firmware. I, like others, had tethering and other apps which require 3.1.2. I got this 3.1.3 spoof and it works fine with my phone. I can now get apps from regular app store that require 3.1.3. I left the tethering app as is and can still use it and others even though it says to delete. For it to work with itunes dont forget to reboot.

Anyway I’m told that if I’ve hit the make my life easier button on cydia them o can rejailbreak? My question is this how do I know if I’ve hit this button cos I can’t for the life of me remember if I did or not? Please help?????

I also experienced the crashed iphone after installing this app. It does indeed show up as 3.1.3 in Settings and when connecting to iTunes…
Minutes after connecting to iTunes on my PC, I saw the apple boot logo… No amount of reboots cured the problem…
FORTUNATELY, I had two things going for me…
1. A solid copy of the original 3.1.2 ipsw file…
2. And PKGBACKUP!!!! The best $3.49 that I have spent in a long time!!! If you don’t have it, GET IT! It neatly restores ALL of your JB apps, and in very short order!
In summary, I had to restore back to a fresh copy of 3.1.2, then restore to a Feb 20 iTunes backup,
jailbreak again, add Cydia, download PKGBACKUP and then use its restore feature!
Two hours later, I had re-added my personal tweaks back that had not been backed up…
BUT, despite all that, the fresh install on everything brought back the phone to full speed again…

For those of you who deleted this app and lost their systemversion.plist like I did after installing the new version just download sosiphone repo from cydia and install Fake 3.1.3. That app actually installs a systemversion.plist and then you can use big boss’ new app to switch back and forth.

Yeah.. I did this and have the .plist back in place but still can’t get signal… anyone else sort this out without a restore? It can’t be that big a deal… hopefully BB will explain what went wrong so we can at least work out a way to get things back in gear. :)

My 3GS is running fine. I have a phone signal and a wifi signal. Everything works fine. Maybe try to uninstall ultrasnow and reinstall in it if that’s what you are using for your unlock

Why not just use FWChanger as that allows you to change and then re-change back to what you have. I used it today and I did change my FW from 3.0 7A341 to 3.1.2 7D11. That allowed me to download and install 2 apps from iTunes that were 3.1.x requirement. However, when I tried to run the apps, they would not run.
I am stuck on 3.0 since I never did SHSH my iPhone. I don’t know what to do now. Anyone can help me? Thanks!

First, I install the one before the app. When I uninstalled it the phone was dead slow. So, I put it back in. Then, I installed the app. The instructions were to keep the first installed forever even if one installed the app. Have those instructions changed so I can uninstall the first one, or am I stuck with it?

Hi BigBoss since installing this app iTunes does not let me back up as it says iPhone disconnected and could not complete back up. Also I uninstalled the app but still in settings and iTunes it says that I have the 3.1.3 fw. I know I haven’t updated as I am still jailbroken and unlocked. The way uninstalled it was I deleted it from the springboard and now if I go to look in cydia through my packages it isn’t there so why is saying I’m on 3.1.3 fw still. Please help me get rid of it. As I need to back up and sync.

One thing to note…the reboot after using this is very very long…many minutes long. so reboot and just wait….and wait….let it do its thing. mine took about 10 minutes maybe.

So not knowing the process to put back the firmware 3.1.2 (like, the fone could have been totally stuffed & similar happened to another f/w trick from months back)I just went ahead and let iTunes do its thing with 3.1.3.
