Resupported – Video out through unsupported cords!
Author: phoenix3200 // Category: Jailbreak, NewsDid you know your iPhone/iPod Touch can play videos on your TV? Did you know Apple wants you to pay $50 to get a cable that lets you do such?
Did you know you don’t need to?
There are plenty of accessories on the market that allow you to play video out with iPods, but when plugged into the iPhone, display “This accessory is unsupported by iPhone”, and refuse to play video out. Or at least used to.
Resupported is a safe and cheap alternative to paying the Apple tax. It enables video out through many unsupported AV cables and devices, and it does not modify system files!
Here’s a simple check to see if your cord is likely to be supported:
-Does it plug into the dock connector?
-Will audio play through it when connected to your device?
-Does it have a video output or a screen?
Available in Cydia for $1.99

Went to Cydia – cant find this app.
It’s listed in Rock Your Phone but not available
January 8th, 2010 at 12:01 pm
It’s not in the Cydia Store itself yet, but should appear in a search unless you disabled the system category. It’s not for sale thru RockApp.

Awesome!! Been looking for something like this for quite a while now… thanks!
January 9th, 2010 at 5:57 am
get it free with TVout app on cydia. Tested and works great with cheap 3rd party cables.
January 9th, 2010 at 6:18 am
Does it have an sbsettings toggle? Does it activate the official ipod playback and foto slideshow? I installed it, but it doesnt seem to work. Tvout 2 does but no ipod playback.
January 9th, 2010 at 11:34 am
ya igot it thanksssss i was searching 4 this
January 9th, 2010 at 6:33 pm
Not yet – the next release will if you want to turn the video on manually. Was your ringer switch off?
January 9th, 2010 at 6:58 pm
Hi Phoenix3200 – i tried using your web sites contact forum but it kept kicking me out (keps saying check required fields but nothing is checked)
I need some help with this.
It just doesnt work. I resprug.
Rebooted. Hard rebooted. Plugged cable in while playing. Plugged in
dock first then cables then tried to play & vice versa. Uninstalled.
Reinstalled. The cable I have now is non-genuine from hong kong. Used
to get tv out on FW 2.x. So cable does work. I noticed however that
after I installed it audio out on the cable end doesnt work any more
either. :( (im using FW 3.1.2 & no other tv out apps installed)…yes my ringer switch is on
thanks

I don’t do anything with the audio path. You’re welcome to uninstall Resupported to check for yourself, but it should make no difference in terms of the audio.
Until you are able to produce audio thru the cord, the autodetection won’t allow the video to go out the cord.
January 10th, 2010 at 3:01 am
doesn’t work for me either…
ringer switch is on
audio isn’t send through cable after installed…
video isn’t displayed on my tv, just blank screen.
TVout2 works fine with audio & video through cable.
January 10th, 2010 at 10:46 am
My ringer switch is broken, but i have auto silent installed. TVout 2 displays video and plays sound, but i can’t use the official features with it, like the foto-slideshow. I thought resupported would activate these. I uninstalled all tvout apps and resettet, but it still only shows a black screen. Ringer switch would only work if theres no audio or does it have any other effects on the playback?
thanks
mic
January 10th, 2010 at 11:13 am
thanks I’ll keep working with it. It sounds like your app is working fine for most. my bet is it must’ve been landscape tv out app or another tvout app that may have messed with the core files for sending video and audio out and I think that even though they are uninstalled they may have left a nasty fingerprint. Anyway appreciate getting a response. Keep up the great work!
January 10th, 2010 at 12:49 pm
My autodetection relies on where the audio is going, and if the ringer switch is in the off position, it’s masking where the audio is going.
Per the black screen: is the video trying to go out the dock, or is it trying to go on the TV screen?
January 10th, 2010 at 3:18 pm
my ringer switch is broken and so it is always set to silent. since I uninstalled all tvout programs i dont see a black screen on the tv anymore. Nothing at all on the tv happens, except of sound.
Because of the broken ringer switch i work with auto silent. But turned on or turned off, when i plug the cable in, the sound is being redirected to the tv.
January 10th, 2010 at 3:50 pm
If the ringer is always stuck on silent, for the time being, get the (just released) SBSettings Toggle to force video out on/off. I just figured out a better way to detect the dock audio (regardless of switch settings), but it won’t be live for at least a day.
January 10th, 2010 at 5:20 pm
Thank you,
its working now with the toggle. It’s black and white now, although it is set to pal, but i think thats because i had too many tv out programs installed and uninstalled, i had that problem before.
Thanks for your help

I need help when I try to install it says that it is forbidden could you tell me why?
January 11th, 2010 at 12:04 am
You’re probably trying to install the SBSettings toggle, which requires that you already own Resupported.
The SBSettings toggle should in general be used only for debugging cable problems and to avoid the (soon to be gone) ringer switch bug.
January 11th, 2010 at 12:43 pm
Same-doesn’t work for me. Just installed it-previously installed and unistalled tvout
January 11th, 2010 at 12:49 pm
Can you do this to for the Mic of the iPhone? There are no cables that can be used to allow to use the Mic and run from another unit, like ahearing assistance unit which only out puts a mono jack out. But connected to an iPhone it impossible to the mic to work and record from Multi port mini jack using the iPhone Recorder (3GS). Let me know.
Thanks….ArkBark

January 12th, 2010 at 10:54 am
any way to have this route phone call audio through the dock connector? *crossing fingers*
January 12th, 2010 at 11:43 am
Works for me! However, I still get the warning message popping up every once in a while… it continues to play though.
Overall, a success!
January 12th, 2010 at 9:16 pm
does not work for me… i get sound but no video i get pop up message cable not supported
January 15th, 2010 at 8:42 pm
Just purchased resuported app and for the first 3 minutes audio and video work great but then a popup stating accessery not supported! comes up and i have to clear the popup and start movie again this is in dtunes during a movie play back it runs another 3 minutes and does the same thing over and continues this throughout the playback.
Iam running firmware 3.1.2 on a 3g
January 18th, 2010 at 10:13 am
Still freezes after 10 seconds, like usual. I’ve already patched the file that gets rid of the “cable not supported” message – but it seems this app doesn’t get around the main problem itself: freezing at exact intervals.
I’ll re-jailbreak, and test it again without video-out patching.
January 18th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
Voltman, i get the same thing. Every 5 to 6 minutes i get the pop up saying accessory not supported. Its so annoying. Maybe is better to just buy the original cables on ebay.
Note that i do not get this pop ups when viewing the ipod or picture slide show. Only when viewing youtube videos.
January 18th, 2010 at 1:12 pm
I’m back.
After restoring, and re-jailbreaking with blackra1n, it has started working. I noticed the popup when I inserted my 3rd party cord, but I just declined airplane mode, and was good to go.
The only setback I encountered was that the lockscreen (once it locked) it would freeze the video. Minor setback, and I’m sure there’s a permanent fix, but for now, I just turn off the lockscreen.
Running firmware 3.1.2

You’re making it enjoyable and you continue to care for to stay it sensible. I can not wait to read far more from you. That is actually a wonderful site.
