Edit for those having problems in windows with dl.exe. User DwghtClrk found that if you run spirit in windows 98 / ME mode it works fine. So try this. Also, if you get “You do not have the newest itunes 9.1″ type error and you do have itunes 9.1, it’s likely that you ran blackra1n rc2 and it renamed some of your dll files. Copy itunesmobiledevice.dll to itunesmobiledevice2.dll (so you have the file twice, with both names after). You can find it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support on win64 or C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support on win32.
Note: Rumors also say spirit may delete your pictures. Make sure you backup your pictures in iTunes or sync them off the device before jailbreaking so you can sync them back on after in case this happens to you.
Spirit is now released. This jailbreaks your iPhone / iPod touch 3.1.2 / 3.1.3 and iPad on 3.2. Here is are the download links for Windows or OSX:

Note: I may make a guide to follow, but this is a very easy jailbreak. Here are the steps:
1) Must be run on clean restored firmware (not currently jailbroken firmware).
2) Hook up the device to the computer
3) Run spirit, click the button.

Windows users run Spirit.exe in compatibility mode:
1) Right click on spirit.exe and select properties
2) Select the compatibility tab and select Windows 98 / ME and check “Run this program in compatibility mode for” box.

First of all, do u require an unlock? If yes den this is not for you.If no, sync with iTunes to back up ur stuff first, upgrade to a clean 3.1.3 firmware before performing this jailbreak.

just read http://spiritjb.com/ for all your answers about the JB. you’ll just have to reinstall your JB apps from Cydia after the restore and JB. There are some package backup JB apps in Cydia you could try to back them up with, though I always prefer clean installs. just google it.

I might be syncing my stuff soon, but the last time I tried, it told me that I couldnt, and it offered me to cancel or to erase everything on my device and sync the stuff that is in the itunes I have on my new computer (which is nothing)

When I ty to download the Spiit.exe file fo my windows xp. machine I get the errror message from Antivir that the file contains a Tojan named TR/Dropper.Gen. So of course I delete it.

Installed without a problem on my iPad 3.2, but Five Icon Dock totally messed me up and had to do a restore. I think it is best to wait for 4.0 and its jailbreak. Give developers time to update their programs. I doubt they will update for 3.2 since 4.0 i right around the corner. Oh well, back to the waiting game :)

If you’re getting error code c0000138, you can fix it by copy file libeay32.dll from “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support” replace to “c:\windows\system32\” and then restart your PC.

Spirit will put Cydia on one of your screens on the iPad! (I have three screens and on mine Cydia was on the 2nd)
Some problems with Spirit can also be resolved by killing the ItunesHelper.exe in Windows Taskmanager!
All the official download sites are tested virus free! If you have downloaded from an official mirror then most likely it will be a false positive from your Antivirus program…

If you have your 3GS 3.1.2 with Blackra1n/Blacksn0w at the moment it really isn’t worth the hassle to upgrade to 3.1.3 (only minor changes over 3.1.2)…

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit with iTunes 9.1.1 on it. My iPad is a 64GB WiFi. I downloaded SpiritJB from one of the official mirrors. I rightclicked on the Spirit.exe and select Run as Administrator and compatibility mode for Windows 98/Me. Then I killed the iTunesHelper process in TaskManager. Finally ran Spirit.exe and IT WORKS!

Same problem. First time I ran Spirit (Mac OS) it got stuck loading on my iPhone (3GS 3.1.3). I had to restore and when I ran Spirit again it worked. Didn’t have to close iTunes.
Just reloading all my apps and music *le sigh*

I have been using blackrain any time you reboot or phone dies your stuck in recovery mode. You have to connect to computer with blackrain on it just to use your phone again. A royal pain in the ass.

Dear experts. Please help!! I used Spirit for my 3GS ver 3.13. firmware 5.12.01. Rebooted and cydia appeared. Everything works fine until i started adding sources and packages. After one of the reboots i keyed in my sim lock passwd as usual only to find that it can’t detect my mobile carrier which was working fine before. Look I have a phone that I’m trying to unlock and I’m using snowbreeze but it doesn’t work I used it on my own phone and worked fine but I can’t do it with this other phone and I’ve tried everything. PLEASE I NEED REAL HELP!!!

How did you do that? I got 3Gs 3.1.3 FW and bootroom 359.3.2 (baseband 05.12.01) and always get the error:

I realize it’s really difficult to get the unlock, and I don’t know until when.
Just one question Boss, is it possible to unlock the OS 4.0 while the JB done on it?

I love This jailbreak I have been tryin to jailbreak my iPod for about 6months but nothing worked and finally I looked on the Internet and there was a new jailbreak out called spirit so I looked up the video how to do and the next thing I knew I had cydia winterboard installous and themes

Ok…spirit is amazing and worked on 4 iPod touches and on the 5th one…it worked, i updated Cydia and Cydia doesnt work anymore after i rebooted.(it closes out after clicking on it and waiting 3secs)i restored and jailbroke again multiple times..HALP!

It doesn’t really matter but I suggest you close iTunes .No untethered means that if you reboot it won’t go into recovery mode and yes it installs cydia

Greetings
I have a 3gs running 3.1.3 jailbroken with Spirit.
Device runs fine – no problems at all until….
I just purchased the Navigon GPS app from the itunes store. It installed fine and runs fine.
I went to make an in-app purchase (live traffic) and I get the errors shown in the attached screen shots.
Any ideas?? Does jailbreaking effect the sandbox user somehow?
Do I need to create a specific user and assign to the sandbox to make this work?

Hi, I was using a factory unlocked iphone Yesterday I updated it to 3.1.3 with modem firmware 05.12.01. I jb it with spirit. everything worked fine. But today when I connected it to itunes and syn for other applications, it syned but showed error 48. All games and applications are there but when I open it it just crashes. I can still use it to make calls and listen to music. None applications are opening except the ones which come in iphone. Pls help

Hi guys, please help. Now my iphone is stuck on apple logo. Even Itunes does not read it. it is stuck on apple logo when I tried to reboot it. I tried using iphonebrowser but no luck. Pls advice what to do. I cant even restore it as itunes does not read it.
