I have updated the quickpwn and pwnage guides as appropriate adding any differences for 2.2 and firmware links.
I have a post for downloads of the 2.2 jailbreaks.
I have updated the firmwares page adding the 2.2 firmware.
I have updated BossPrefs and SBSettings toggles for 2.2. SBSettings toggles had to undergo major changes. I wasn’t quite ready to release this, but the dev team released their jailbreak so I had to because the older version would just restart springboard when used on 2.2. Note: when you load either of these the very first time after a restore, the wifi toggle will probably be out of sync and you will have to enable it when it’s already enabled. This is a one-time deal and after that it should work normally.
We should be good for 2.2 here. Enjoy.

Your dedication and efforts are much appreciated. Thanks for such quick work!

Thank you and Dev Team. Works perfect!
November 22nd, 2008 at 9:20 pm

November 22nd, 2008 at 9:41 pm
I installed SBsettings after the JB, before I restored my backup data.
Now when I go to Dock inside SBsettings settings app is duplicated and 3 blank spaces in the middle.
When i go to add/remove apps to the doc it will tell me I have 12 selected when I only have 8 showing –
Any ideas BB?
November 22nd, 2008 at 11:11 pm
You guys rock!
November 22nd, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Sbsettings: any chance to have a simple way to access immediately to dock applications ?
A icon in springboard or, better, swipe right to left to open dock (swipe left to right to open sbsettings) would be fantastic.
What do you think about that ?
THANKE !
November 22nd, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Sbsettings: one more :)
What about a sort of CATEGORIES option to fast display dock applications in categories?
I use Categories with background but i find it to slow and with poor performances.
Your dock option is really fast and cute …
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:07 am
i like it.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:15 am
I got the 2002 error and a bricked phone when I attempted to “restore” to the jailbreak software. I think this may have been because Genius was still initializing on the 8.02 update but I’m not willing to test until I have some more phones around….and time. Restore still in progress. Uhhhgh.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:29 am
This will happen if you dont have the latest toggle pack, v1.3.3 or newer.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:30 am
You probably have your old settings file and the apps that you originally had don’t exist on your newest iPhone install. We’ll fix that in an update soon. For now you can install the apps you had and remove them from the dock.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:31 am
It will be a separate app, when I have time. I have been planning how to integrate categories into springboard.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:46 am
I just jailbroke 2.2 on my phone and everything seems to working fine until i install SBSettings. When the phone reboots all I get is safe mode. If I reboot again it just goes back into safe mode. The only way to get out of safe mode is to uninstall SBSettings. Any ideas?

@ bigboss
Please man I need your help
I have an iphone 3g unlocked by gevey sim (Sim adapter) .. and I have windows.
Can you make a custom 2.2 firmware which preserves ( not upgrading) the baseband and upload it for me and my friends? because I cannot trust anyone and If i upgraded by incorrect 2.2 firmware I will lose the chance to unlock my 3g
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:23 am
So, has there been a verified “significant” increase in the baseband for 2.2?
After looking at the options, I still dont see a reason to upgrade to FW 2.2.
What are your thoughts Bigboss?
Just doesn’t seem worth it right now, as stable as 2.1 has been for the community as a whole…
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:50 am
I have an unrelated question.
If I poof/hide an app using BossPrefs, and I add that app to the dock in SBSettings (meaning I don’t want it on Springboard, but I also don’t want to unpoof it every time I want to use it), will it be visible on the dock?
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:27 am
So, after I get the “Pwnage process appears to have completed successfully. Please wait for your device to reboot in its newly modified state.” message, how long should I have to wait? Should l leave the USB cable connected and iTunes running? My phone seems to hang on the pineapple screen forever, although it eventually worked when I did the 2.1 jailbreak. Maybe I’m not patient enough and am dorking it up by disconnecting the cable or doing a reset. The screen flashes briefly after what seems like an eternity, then I get the pineapple again.
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:35 am
Thank you BigBoss: great work (once more ;-)
All is fine, on my first gen iPhone, after the 2.1 -> 2.2 update.
Just… second attempt and second time AptBackup doesn’t do it. I’m sure it’s me doing something wrong (followed you guide, though) but…
Anyway… everything’s fine and: a big, big thank you!
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:23 am
Hi there: I am having problems whem I try to install app from Cydia; also, I only can fin the SBSettings 1.0.3 version on Cydia and I just updated my iPhone 2G to 2.2 version….
Thanks
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:47 am
BigBoss, i have a question, after the upgrade/restore i reinstalled logome and it just stays on the downloading files startup, is it not compatible with 2.2 and wifi toggle in sbs is not working but works with bossperfs any ideals??????
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:31 am
I there: I cant install SBSettings on iPhone 2G 2.2 version…. does any 1 could help me???
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:55 am
I cant install any application of BigBoss ;-( on Cydia
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:59 am
Hey there,
Some friends and I seem to have the same problems with 2.2.
We can`t access the BigBoss-Repo – We can see it in Cydia, but there are no packages in it.
We all have the 2G iphones.
Another friend wo has the iPhone 3G has no problems at all with 2.2. and BigBoss-Repo
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:14 pm
Thanks for your information ;-)
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Hey BigBoss, your server is very unstable atm.
Oh btw, I think you should put 2.2 as “Recommended Firmware”.
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:43 pm
I’m having the same issues, I cant connect to the repository :(, have anyone found a solution for this?
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:45 pm
I think i’m having the same problems as everyone else. i can’t install anything from BigBoss. very unstable. I tried to install bossprefs for my 2.2 iphone 1st gen but it took me like 5 tries!
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I also can’t install anything from Bigboss – prefs, sbsettings, poof – plus quickgolf, terminal, openssh – all of these start downloading and then stop very early in the process and then 30 secs later I get a message saying complete and return to cydia or reload springboard but in fact nothing has bee installed.
Had no trouble installing cycorder though
Any ideas?
Thanks for all your hard work!
Matt
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:39 pm
i cant get sbssetting AT ALL.it says can not find packet
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:07 pm
I think his repo is either down or getting slammed so hard we can’t get through to update packages.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Also it tooks a long time until I can see the “install” button on the application……
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:24 pm
But now everythings seems to work really correct.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:24 pm
can you run through that again? it sounds like you’re doing something wrong.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Now I cant see repository from iClarified ;-(
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:43 pm
you don’t really need bossprefs anymore. as soon as you add an app to the SBSettings dock, it is Poof’d automatically. you can hide/unhide any app from inside SBSettings.
November 23rd, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Poof doesn’t seem to work anymore either. Pretty much forces me to restore everytime I attempt to hide icons.
November 23rd, 2008 at 3:27 pm
ugly guys rip dev have released an app named HOOD that does some of the stuff that sbsettings does, plus monitoring used memory (and maybe cpu use), and closing running apps.
i wont touch installer, much less hood, but i would love sbsettings to add this functionality, or to have a standalone app that does it (with a gui :P )
November 23rd, 2008 at 4:46 pm
My Cydia/Installer icons won’t show up ever since I updated to 2.2 and jailbroke. I can see them in /root/applications however…
November 23rd, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Does any 1 having problems with Mail applications?? It get closed by itself since I am on 2.2 version ;-(
November 23rd, 2008 at 5:09 pm

I’ve got a fresh 2.2 restore, jailbroken with QuickPwn. I’ve installed SBSettings, but WiFi and Phone toggles don’t work for me even after re-install or whatsoever. =(
November 23rd, 2008 at 5:50 pm
I’ve got the same problem with BossPrefs and WiFi on 2.2…
November 23rd, 2008 at 6:27 pm
everything is fine for me. i did a rstore as new phone and jbroked it. works awesome no crashes till now.
November 23rd, 2008 at 6:27 pm
ok excuse my naitivity, which do I use on 2.2 SBsettings or sbtoggle, I am confused and am still having trouble with Wifi not holding
Thanks all
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:04 pm
Hey BigBoss,
Do you know if saurik plans on releasing an update to Cycorder? Everything seems to work just fine, except Cycorder.
It will launch and the camera view will come on, but the minute you hit record, the app crashes.
TIA!
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Seems to work fine for me on 2.2
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:00 pm
This is common. Your Unlocking Sim won’t work with 2.2 and it never will. You will have to get a new updated version.
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:10 pm
BB and Evryone else,
Bug Thanks to Big Boss and the folks on here who help people out. I was able to JB to 2.2 from 2.1 tonight on my 3G iphone. Stupid me hit backup in AptBackup instead of restore after I jailbroke and so I had to restore all Cydia apps one at a time. I think I got most of them going now.
No crashes, things seem to work fine.
Thanks again,
Plot
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:50 pm
When I hold down option+restore, I get an error 1600 saying “an unknown error has occurred.” Anybody have a suggestion.
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Well…everything is a go EXCEPT…the aptbackup portion didn’t save anything as it should. Did everything by the book (bigboss update instructions)…the only thing I am unclear on is should I have restored my aptbackup list BEFORE restoring on itunes….or after. I tried to restore my aptbackup after my itunes restore—no dice. Thanks again Boss for the quick updates and help……just thought I’d add my experience….
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Spoke a little too soon….Wi-fi toggle is inoperative as well as the phone toggle. Tried to reboot and still doesn’t work. If you within a wifi signal, you are connected, but if you try to turn it off, logo turns red (to signal it’s off)…but indeed doesn’t shut off wi-fi. Same with phone, it will show up red in SBsettings, but phone is still operable….
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Having a problem with Open SSH being on by default after reboot. I’ve tried reinstalling Open SSH and SBSettings and no luck. Everytime the phone restarts Open SSH is on.
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:29 pm
Hi,
Thanks for the effort but Wifi toggle is still no-go on my restore-upgraded iphone 3g. Tried re-install SBSsettings and toggles but can’t get it to work. Any idea?
Thanks again,
halden
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:46 pm
No sbsettings problems for me.
Nice work bigboss, I would turn gay for you.
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:12 pm
LOL.
You will become gay for BigBoss ????
MUAHAHAHA HA HA HA
I didn’t upgrade yet. Waiting for all the fixes.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:01 am
BB,
Pwn process, restore, and aptback worked great and phone is nearly the way it was before. I’m having two minor problems though. First is Quickgold, after a few uses it won’t let me type anything to search and launch until I respring. Second, and this has been ongoing since firmware 2.1, Categories seems a bit unstable when I am making a new folder and adding apps. It crashes and resprings mid process. Is this normal? I look forward to a response here or on email, thanks dude.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:54 am
OK, just upgraded toggles from 1.3.3 to 1.3.4, and so far everything seems to be working fine. i tried all toggles and now they WORK. BigBoss thank you so much for the great work here!

Guys,
If you have a jailbreak Iphone with turbosim running well on FM 2.1, there is no reason to update to 2.2 !
Ignore “update calling” from iTunes. (not e-zy tho)
Too risky for amateurs… to update themselves.
i quiver.
November 24th, 2008 at 4:18 am
I had the same issue with quickgold. I had to respring after every use or so just to be able to use it again. I eventually just removed it then reinstalled it and haven’t had a problem since. Let’s hope it stays that way for awhile.
November 24th, 2008 at 4:20 am
Scratch that….right after I typed this I go and try to use quickgold and the cursor is nonexistent. Hopefully there will be a fix to this soon.
November 24th, 2008 at 4:38 am
Since installing 2.2 and Jailbreak i have noticed a strange bug. Not sure if it’s a jailbreak or 2.2 issue.
Whenever i get a sms/text popup (when the phone is in standby), i use the slider to unlock the screen, and then the phone hangs. It hangs for about 60 seconds, then refreshes itself back to the locked/wallpaper screen without the message. It does this every time.
If i get a popup, then i hit the standby button to go back into standby, then hit the home button to bring the screen back, i can then use the slider successfully.
anyyone else have this problem ?
November 24th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
2.2 worked great initially after I Quickpwned, but as I loaded Cydia apps it’s become more sluggish and Mail now crashes immediately. I wasn’t able to get QuickGold to work properly after the upgrade and have removed it. Are there other apps that are likely to be giving me problems with Mail? I’ve tried the fix dirs option from SBSettings with no change.
November 24th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
In regards to my problem, I found that it was the MYSMS jailbreak app that was the problem. They have since released a new version that has fixed the problem.
This leads me to believe that most of the issues people are having are related to the app not being compatible with 2.2 rather than a 2.2 or jailbreak issue specifically. (i know kind of an obvious comment….but at first i thought it was a buggy 2.2 or jailbreak)
November 25th, 2008 at 12:35 am
Hi BigBoss great work and thanks tor all!!! I’ve only one problem with the wi.fi toggle wich doesn’t work with bosspref… I’ve tried everything but nothing… Have you got any suggest?
Thnkyou in advance!!!
November 25th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Have tried to upgrade my 2G iPhone to 2.2 but appears to have killed my iPhone. Just get the apple logo and then about 5 minutes later screen flashes briefly (appears to be rebooting) and it’s back to the apple logo.
Have successfully entered DFU mode and tried doing a restore in iTunes 8.0.2 but no improvement.
November 25th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Yeah! New IntelliScreeen update today cured the Mail app. crashing issue. All is good now, except that the status bar doesn’t work maybe 30% of the time, but I also had that in 2.1.
November 25th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
After the upgrade to 2.2 Quickgold works for a time or two then will not let me type anything in for search, past app icons still work, but typing does nothing. Any ideas?
November 25th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
I have found that since 2.2 my phone has crashed and for no apparrent reason. My friend had the same issue (no jailbreak on his phone) and there are few posts of others having the same issue.
I suspect 2.2 is a little buggy
November 25th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Same here with QG, which is one of my favorite apps. I’ve removed it until there’s an update.
November 26th, 2008 at 12:02 am
i cant get quick pawn to work. it will crash as sone as i open the program. downloaded all the files in the guide. please help

Does any one elses T-mobile carrier logo not work with the 2.2 upgrade?
I re-installed, and re-booted several times and it still won’t show up.
Anyone else having this problem?
November 28th, 2008 at 11:44 am
Hi, I have updated to 2.2 and now when I sync all of my stuff goes on to the iPhone fine but when it comes to the backing up stage an error appears saying my iPhone could not be backed up because it has been disconnected. But it hasn’t. Please help.

I upgraded my 2g iphone to 2.2. I don’t have now on the screen not the BossPref icon or Setting icon. I can’t turn on the WIFI to re-download the applications, Any idea how to continue?
December 13th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Plot!
Did you keep the old baseband to maximize your chances of a soft unlock in the near future, or did you just upgrade to the new baseband when you moved to FW 2.2?
December 13th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
BB, I’m sorry to be a little slow, but better safe than sorry.
I want to upgrade to FW 2.2 while keeping the old baseband. You say you updated the guides to upgrade to FW 2.2 and to jailbreak using the pwnage tool (PwnageTool_2.2.1), but the guide doesn’t discuss whether the old baseband will be retained or not. Will the procedure you outline in the guide maintain the old baseband, or is a different procedure required (such as, using the expert mode)?
I am a Windows user and I intend to go over to a friend’s house that is a Mac user to make myself a custom ipsw FW 2.2 file. I had the impression that I would have to use the expert mode, but that it was somewhat self-explanatory.
I would very much appreciate a quick reply to I don’t go wrong! Frankly, I have a number of apps that I can’t load anymore because they require FW 2.2 (e.g., AirSharing), so I have become somewhat impatient! Thanks.
December 14th, 2008 at 1:06 am
I am still looking for a friend with a Mac that will let me create the custom ipsw file, but while looking around it seems that the procedure outlined in BB’s Pwnage Guide would upgrade both the FW (to 2.2) and the baseband (to 02.28.00).
Evidently, to keep the baseband at 02.11.07 (and thereby maximize the chances of obtaining a software unlock in the foreseeable future, the “Expert Mode” must be selected, and there will be some kind of selection, probably a check-box of somekind, where the user can select or deselect “enable baseband update” and, of course, this should NOT be selected in order to keep the old baseband. Then, work through the procedure to create and save the customized FW 2.2, and then run a Shift-Restore in iTunes using the customized ipsw file.

Im having troule with my iphone 2g and cydia. Ive recently upgraded to 2.2 and then i used quickpwn to jailbreak and unlock it. Now when I go into cydia it says there are no packages in there… like i have no sources or anything. I cant even add any sources. Installer works but id much rather use cydia. please please help. Also i have tmobile if that means anything
