Dev team has released an untethered 4.3.1 jailbreak in the form of redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 or newer or pwnagetool 4.3.1. Credit goes to Stefan Esser (I0n1c) for finding this one. (Let’s hope he’s a new player here to stay, if you can find out where to donate to him, go do so).
You can download redsn0w MAC or Windows and use our guide here if you have questions. Read more about it at the dev team blog.
Warning for unlockers: WARNING WARNING — ultrasn0w users don’t update yet! We need to first release an update to ultrasn0w that fixes some incompatibilities when FW 4.3.1 is used on the older basebands supported by ultrasn0w.
Note: this does not work on 4.3 currently. Only 4.3.1. Also does not support iPad 2.
If you have problems with redsn0w hanging uploading payload on Windows 7, try setting XP Compatibility Mode.

Goes into DFU mode fine, but the redsn0w hangs on waiting for reboot. My ipod reboots, and redsn0w must not be recognizing it. I’m running Windows XP.

I personally experience the Redsnow RC9 a bit buggy (slow & sluggish) is there nyone else with same opinion, hope an update would be coming for Redsn0w.

Hi, I just finished jail breaking my iphone 4, I followed all the steps and got it done. I noticed that the Cydia logo is blank, I opened it and it worked for a second then it started to blink showing the screen you see when you are syncing the phone to iTunes. Does anybody know what’s wrong? Thanks for your help and advise.

When i go to use redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 on my iPhone4 ver 4.3.1. it will get to the uploading ramdisk and just freeze. The phone says downloading jailbreak data.
Can anyone tell tell me how to keep it from freezing? It is a fresh install of 4.3.1 from itunes and im using the firmware from here to jailbreak.

Chronic-Dev hasn’t released a 4.3.1-compatible JB.
If you’re referring to a 4.2.1 JB, then yes, he’s extremely slow. Otherwise, learn to read! Please don’t tell people to download Greenpois0n RC6.1 since that will not work. Instead, you should suggest something like: “Dude, wait for Greenpois0n RC7!”

i have had the jb on my iphone 4 for a few days now and cant get bossprefs to work. my phone is acting strange and the trial for tonefxs 2.0 completely ignores some device sounds. i would consider myself to be an advanced user (not hacker material).
i want to use bossprefs to fix the permissions on my phone to hopefully get some kinks out. any ideas?

Trying to download 4.3.1 ipsw file. When I download the recommended file from the server, there is no ipsw file for RedSnow to read. What am I doing wrong? And yes, I am a novice with this.

I downloaded the new redsn0w 0.9.6rc9 and I am following the instructions. I open it up and go the the browse. I then can’t find where the IPSW is for my current firmware, it can’t seem to find anything. I did this once before no problems, I am also a novice, please help!!

Redsnow completed 4.3.1 update my previous jailbreak 3GS. Restored all iTunes apps as well. But after restore using Aptbackup, most iTune apps are gone or hidden. I did restore again from iTunes, successfully. Everything is back in place but available space shrinks from 4gb to 1.5gb now. 3gb went to Others. Pls. help.

Hwo do you restore, I lost my music library. I see in iTunes it registers as other and they are there as I can see them in the file directories but they arent going to my music library. I used jailbreakme.com to JB the ipad. I have tried dowloading RedSnow 4.3.1 with trying to put 4.3.1 ispw software onto this. Following all the power/home button directions, looks like my ipad was going through a jb process, then, the ipad restarts, and, back to the old 3.2.1, like nothing happened. I am dying to get any sort of 4.0 ipad software and above on this. Should I just update to 4.2 on itunes, then try the JB? I fear losing all the jailbroken apps on my ipad. Please help! Thanks.
