- NEW Cool Searching feature..
- Ability to Cancel a message while it’s sending!
- Added a toggle for SBSettings – called “SMS Alerts”. Great for privacy, or while you are busy and don’t want to be disturbed.
- Improved call handling, so that Quick Compose and Quick Reply interact in a much better fashion with incoming calls.
- Enhancements to Privacy so that privacy is improved when using Quick Reply when in the unlock mode. Privacy can now also be used with Quick Reply in the lock screen as well.
- Existing landscape settings have been refined into a new “Orientation” setting allowing specific control for biteSMS, Quick Compose and Quick Reply. Can individually be set to auto rotate, portrait or landscape mode.
- Added support for biteSMS, Quick Compose and Quick Reply to honor the SBSettings Rotation Inhibitor toggle.
- Fixed quiet volume for incoming messages when in the home screen (it was always fine in the lock screen).
- Added new Quick Compose setting “Mobile Contacts Only”, which restricts list of contacts shown to those with just mobile type numbers.
- In Quick Compose, the cursor now automatically jumps to the text field after user enters a single contact name (as you do this more often than sending to groups).
- You can now access the cut&paste menu in the Quick Reply message text.
- Added back the Release 4.3 feature “Slide to View”.
- When forwarding a message, formatting of blank lines etc was lost, this is fixed.
- Fixed issue with Privacy not working when the Quick Reply feature was turned off.
- Fixed issue where contact picture was lost when forwarding a message (only impacted Firmware 3.1.2).
- Fixed issue where text was lost when phone was locked, then unlocked.

Yea all these new features are great and all, but how bout you fix it so Bite doesn’t cause springboard to crash EVERY time I hit “open” from the quick reply screen. Then your product would be great.

So in defense to the developer of BiteSMS (who is not me), rather than assume this is a wide spread problem and post in a somewhat sarcastic manner that you should “make your product stable rather than add features”, how about you assume your situation is a bit unique and become part of the solution rather than part of the problem?
For example, I can hit open and springboard does not crash. I’m sure the same is the case for the developers or they wouldn’t have released it. If you have a problem, try asking for help or install logmailer and send them a syslog rather than assuming its a known issue that no one cares about because they are too busy adding features.

My bad. I didn’t mean for that to come off as sarcastic. I actually really do like the new features that have come out the past 2 updates! And I did assume this was happening to most people. So my bad again. Everything ran fine until the update before this one came out. I also thought this was your product. Who can I email about this?

I had the same problem with bite sms and igo crashing. I’ve sent the syslog to bitesms and they said it’s not bitesms the one causing the problem.
I have one more question. With bitesms installed my iphone fails calls and looses network from time to time. This happens several times a day. Is there anyone else who encounter this problem? (Iphone 3GS fw 3.1.2, jb and unlocked with blackra1n)

I don’t think BiteSMS can affect the carrier subsystem (which is entirely different subsystem than being using to patch springboard to intercept sms alerts). You should definitely report it to the biteSMS team though.

No, in this case I just host the app I don’t own it. I think the best thing is to send a syslog to the “author” email link in Cydia.

So this is totally off topic and all, but I’ve been having some issues with my lockscreen that I can’t figure out. Can I ask you on here, or is there some other section where I could get help??

Love the update, just fantastic.

I have installed 4.5 but don’t like the sms scrolling feature. How do I fix it? or how do I install 4.4.1 again?
Thanks guys.

In case anyone else was having the same problem as me….It was StatusNotifier that was causing bite to crash. I turned it off, and Bite no longer crashes..

I’ve read about Winterboard causing these same problems. You might want to read about it or something. That is if you have Winterboard installed…
Yes I have the same problems, (iPhone 2G) never assumed biteSMS would cause this. Like I said, look at Winterboard. :]

Personally, I use SwirlyMMS
All txts, both MMS & SMS are FREE on SwirlyMMS when using their network so you don’t have to pay for credits EVER & it has a lot more & better functions than this crap. We can’t even keep our app secure that’s why it’s free now because of hackers being able to hack it. Only way we can make any $$$ is by putting annoying ads in it, but even the hackers have taken the ads out! Seriously, don’t waste your time with this, the company is falling apart!
