The Dev-Team have in their website a different method for JailBreak. Did you see it? If I do these process, do i need to do the Dev-Team too?

Yea thats a great question that im wondering myself.What is it BigBoss?? Im thinkin all this ECID,iBEC,iBSS backup stuff is just if your wanna use itunes to restore a custom ipsw made with pwnage tool Correct? But if you dont care about a baseband update cause your on AT&T then you dont need these backups to use redsnow to jailbreak because your ipsw has already been signed with apple.

Hi,
I currently don’t own the 3GS but am going to in the next 3 weeks. Is there a time restriction for me to grab these files?
I understand that I need to act quickly since the new iphones with 3.1 (whenever that happens) might have closed the exploit that Dev team are using. Correct?

You might be right IF the dev team could make redsn0w work for the 3GS much the same way as it does now for the 3G. Since yes as you said, you would restore to a legit ipsw signed by apple before using redsn0w to jailbreak.
BUT
We don’t know if redsn0w will even be possible on the 3GS. Dev team mentioned that a jailbreak is possible, but not what type of jailbreak. I am more inclined to believe they are talking about their main PwnageTool.
And even IF redsn0w is possible, we don’t know that the ECID, iBEC and iBSS still won’t be needed for 3GS.
My main point is that we don’t know anything right now and it is better to be safe than sorry. Get those files now while you can. This way you cover yourself if ever you find yourself needing them.

As long as you get them before 3.1 you should be safe.

Thanks for the reply…just one thing though..the reason u say that it should be before 3.1 is so that the phone doesn’t restore to 3.1 while grabbing these files and thereby, updating the baseband..rite?? but if im careful enough..i can avoid it rite?
I wish I could buy them ASAP..but im not gonna get my hands on em before 30th July :(

Hi
Give me the step by step to grab the files. i tried but it is saying the error application is not initialized. when should i run the application before click on Restore button or after click on restore button
