Apple released iPhone firmware v2.2.1. As always, hold off on your upgrade. This one sounds pretty worthless anyway. In this upgrade, it claims to fix safari stability (which was already stable on 2.2, and they always claim to fix this anyway) and solved some issue in emailing photos. The 2g baseband did not get updated. The 3g baseband is at 2.30.03. If you were using yellowsn0w, this will shut you down. I’m sure jailbreak will be available soon. So just hold off.

@Br: If you don’t have an iPod 2G, don’t bother, a Jailbreak will probably come in a couple of days, max.

You guys should know better by now for not holding off on upgrading the second a firmware is released.
You better hope the iPhone-Dev team helps you guys out :(.

You people amaze me that do this EVERY SINGLE FRIGGING TIME a new update comes out.
Why don’t you slow down and think about what you are doing?
January 28th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
Dude. Wait for the jailbreak. It’s coming out in 5 days. If you want it sooner you can at least stop posting these messages. If you need to downgrade I recommend using RapidShare. Don’t upgrade just yet. As soon as you jailbreak it at 2.2, you will be able to upgrade to 2.2.1. You have to wait 5 days. 5 DAYS!!! keep it real guys.

I upgraded a jailbreaked iphone from 1.4 to 2.2.1. If only I had found your website first, I would not have done this. I can not restore anymore, not even in DFU mode. To wait for five days is long, but I guess I have no choice.

You should check Cydia more…

There is a temporary way to jailbreak 2.2.1 when waiting for the DEV-TEAM to work :) [ hope this work for you guys, it's very simple and work for me [ also my friends :D ] ]:
+ Download the FW 2.2.1, open iTunes -> Shift + Upgrade -> Link to your downloaded FW 2.2.1
+ Jailbreak with Quickpwn using the same way you do with FW 2.2 [ but in Quickpwn you link to FW 2.2 NOT FW 2.2.1 YOU JUST HAVE DOWNLOADED ]
+ THIS IS FOR IPHONE 2G, IPHONE 3G ONLY WORK WITH ANOTHER WAY
Sorry for my bad English :)

For those who got burned by this, I’m sorry. This happened to me the last time a new firmware came out. This time I took the time to read the message that came up in iTunes and when I saw the request to upgrade I said Heck No!
I probably won’t upgrade even after the jailbreak is released. It seems like a pretty useless upgrade, I get tired of having to reconfigure my phone after every new firmware comes out, and I’m very happy with my 2.2 jailbroken iPhone!

I upgraded my iPhone 2G to firmware 2.2.1 a couple days ago and tried jailbreaking several times, but every time it seems to be successfully jailbreaking, I check my iphone to go into Cydia, and nothing seems to have changed! QuickPWN says it was successful and my iPhone seems to be responding to the jailbreaking, but it doesn’t seem to work. Help?

Sorry to bump, but i forgot to mention that I have jailbroken it before in version 2.2. And i know the jailbreaking works, cause the QuickPWN Pineapple appears instead of the Apple… But why can’t I seem to access Cydia or Installer? I had those boxes checked when i QuickPWNed it…
