Note: The greenpois0n website is too busy and down at the time of this writing. Wait and be patient.
Today, Chronic dev released Greenpois0n for your A5 devices (iPhone 4s and ipad 2). You can now do an untethered jailbreak on these devices assuming you are running either 5.0 or 5.0.1. If you are not running those FW versions, get onto one ASAP before Apple closes the update window and releases 5.1. As soon as Apple releases 5.1, you can expect that you cannot restore 5.0.1 again and unless you’re already on 5.0.1 you will be unable to jailbreak.
To jailbreak, just download the jailbreak app from greenpois0n web site (called “absinthe”), and run it. At the moment it is released only for OSX (Mac) but will soon have a windows version followed later today.
A short word on how the JB will work. You will attach your device to your mac, run the app, and wait. When it tells you to do something on your device, you can disconnect it and go run the web link “absinthe”. This will attempt to contact the greenpois0n web site and finish the jailbreak. The jailbreak will be completed when the device resprings and you find cydia. If the greenpois0n web site is down when you try to run the icon on the device, instead you can go to settings, vpn, and click “on”. The error “A configuration error occurred” should appear, shortly after the device should respring jailbroken.
Note: for those having problems, these steps worked for me on my “stubborn” device:
1) After the JB fails to do anything, reboot the iphone
2) Close absinthe on your mac
3) Rerun absinthe and it should detect the device and say that it noticed a jailbreak attempt failed and say it has “recovered”.
4) Reboot the device again, and close absinthe again
5) Rerun the jailbreak tool, it will rerun as it did in the first place.
6) After it’s done and says to tap the “jailbreak icon” do not do that! Instead go to your device, load settings, and click the “vpn” setting to “on”. Wait. The device should pop up and error and then respring about 30 seconds after the error.
7) If the device never resprings in step 6, repeat the steps above again until it works.

Awesome! Just that nothing happens after I click on VPN. The website loads on Absinthe icon, but it does not respring.

the jailbreak is ok :) iPhone 4S work well, but i have some trouble .
I can’t see the big boss package, when i add the big boss sources, i find some error and no package appear.
So i can have the sbsettings. i’m in china somebody can help me

Does not work for me. Absinthe does not detect my iphone4s. Jailbreak button is greyed out. Yes I have 5.0 and my iphone is fine with Itunes. I have posted this everywhere and it seems only few or very rare. No one has confirmed this issue from DEV TEAM

worked perfect on iPad2 5.0.1.. Had to remove my vpn settings from Strong VPN for it to work.. even if I chose the jailbreak VPN as long as my vpn settings were still available it would skip the jailbreak vpn and use my old settings… Happy to finally have a ipad2 broken.. donated 15$ I was so happy…

Finally got iPhone 4S to work.
1- backup phone
2- restore
3- setup as new device
4- run jailbreak
5- jailbreak successful.
6- iTunes restore from backup

I’ve just installed Absinthe on my Ipad 2, and the app was installed but when I opened the app just the greepois0n.com page appears and nothing else happened. I also tried the VPN, but nothing. I removed the app and try the absinthe (win) program but it keeps saying the it recovered the jailbreak and the I should reconnect the Ipad, and doing so, nothing happens, no complete jailbreak installation. What should I do? Any help would help!!!

Everything works great on the 4s… except SBSettings is not showing up in the notifications dropdown. The old-style window works fine.

BigBoss Apps wont load fromn Cydia – I get the message “I wasn’t able to locate the file for the jb.ashikase.bugfix.stuckpages package. This might mean you need to naually fix this package”.
Is this a Cydia problem? How can I get over it as I don’t seem to be able to install anything from Cydia.

Having the same issue none of the Repos have any applications other than Cydia/Telesphoreo. I am unable to find “most” applications due to this issue. I would like SBSettings :(
Any ideas how to get the Repos to populate? I think apt.thebigboss.org is the repo with SBSettings.
May try to Jailbreak again.

Same issue, music was giving me issues as well, i clicked the repeat little circle job while trying to play music and this seemed to fix everything int he player, but i cannot open itunes, or safari or the app store, they all just come up, and then shut down, i have tried reseting, network, hard boot, rejailbreaking, restoring, etc . . . just an error in the jailbreak code i think, or apple is already blocking . . . sucks

Here’s what i did for my Ipad2
1- backup my 4.3.3 jailbreak apps via itunes
2- from 4.3.3 i update to 5.0.1 via itunes but doing the shift restore. because the itunes always gave me an error(tried 8 times waited always 2 hours).
3- click absinthe0.3 from winXP
4- run jailbreak (i didn’t have a chance to go to VPN to change it. because i didn’t got a connection error.)
4- setup as new device
5- jailbreak successful.run cydia
6- iTunes restore jailbreak apps
7- back it up again
i wonder why i didn’t go to turn on the VPN
everything went so smooth. i don’t care about the white icons as long as it is working and they just repairing itself. everything is working 100%

Initially AppCrashed at about half way and then after about the fourth re-attempt got to 3/4 , then subsequently completed.

My 4s has a lockcode enabled that I cannot disable. I connect to Notes traveler at work and it pushes a profile that forces it. Can I still JB or is there another to remove the lockcode prior to doing a JB?
