One big issue about this IRC channel (#iOS) is that there are too many operators and administrators. A few of them are extremely immature kickban simply because they don’t *like* the person. I have seen it time and time again, and have often found #iphone or #iphonedev on saurik’s server to be a better environment for open iPhone discussion. As long as chat does not include piracy, and has to do with relevant info, the operator should not, by principle, kickban a user. I’m not talking about spammers, but rather reasonable fellows who just want input on iPhone issues, tweaks, applications, etc. And the ban on all talk related to BETA’s is crazy. Half current the jailbreaks are in BETA stage!

something’s wrong the the 4.2.1 process released by greenpois0n a few days ago. yesterday i upgraded and used their process, and i wouldnt get a few essential sources on cydia. so i decided to restore my phone and try again. but now, today its giving me the same problem, only this time, the other source is visible but i getting the same error on the big boss source. it says host unreachable. i cant install stuff like winterboard because certain key files are missing as they’re hosted by you guys. please help.

I installed Categories, set up some folders and populated them. Then in error I uninstalled the applications.
Upon reinstalling it, it’s no where to be found (other then Cydia says it’s installed) I just uninstalled it again and of course all my apps I put in folders are stuck there.
Help you get Categories back :-(

I download the app bigboss recommended. When it was finished installing I backed out and looked at my screen and all my non- cydia apps were gone. Hey there! 1st time iphone user here. My husband and I both bought unlocked/jailbroken iphones off of ebay. His works fine!! But mine, which is in perfect cosmetic condition is driving me freaking nuts! Anytime I try to do anything outside of the basic functions it crashes on me. I keep getting the “springboard crash” screen all of the time. For example, I tried to invite a contact to play words with friends, and you have to send an email, and it crashes, or i sent myself a ringtone via text message and you have to open the link to download it, and it crashes. Ive been online watching videos and reading posts trying to get help, but haven’t found anything that works.
Really getting discouraged and tempted to sell this phone and go back to using my blackberry.

Just upgraded my jailbreak to 4.3.2 and I can’t seem to download things like PKGbackup or FolderEnhancer. When I try and install it, I get it shows running, but no progress in the bar and then comes back with a host unreachable error.
I was also having problems with the modmyi repo giving me similar errors so I read somewhere to delete the repo and reinstall it. When I try putting that back in, it won’t work either.
Any ideas?

Old message, not sure if you ever got a response. At worst, you can always restore back to the standard iPhone and it should work fine. You can also try and upgrade to the latest 4.3.2 and jailbreak that but you’ll have to handle the unlocking issue yourself.

I am about to upgrade my jailbreak to 4.2.8 via redsnow. The question is how do I keep my current springboard – including folders – intact? I have found two programs one called springback and one called backboard. Not being an Apple programmer I am not sure I understand how to use the SH program to change files. The screen shots looks like the nornal windows I see in Win 7 but how can I be sure that the springboard info that I backup will be somewhere once I upgrade my firmware? When I went to 4.2.7 with redsnow I had to move everything back to where it was – very time consuming! Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an Iphone 4 Jailbroken there are three Issues that m facing but no clue how to resolve them.
1. I get Facetime Option in Settings however it just says waiting for activation and Facetime Icon doesn’t show under Contacts.

If my phone is already jailbroken but I want to update the firmware and redownload the new jailbreak software…
1. Do I just download the jailbreak software and then sync?
2. Do I sync where it takes everything off and then I download the new jailbreak software?
3. Will my folders remain? I am using PKGBackup from Cydia

I am trying to jailbreak my white ipod touch 4 running iOS 5.0.1 using the redsn0w 0.9.10b3. But whenever I try to put my ipod into DFU mode the jailbreak begins then tells me “Exploit Failed”.
I have tried running the jailbreak with my antivirus disabled, using different USB ports and by manualy choosing my IPSW but nothing seems to work.

Hi, I’ve a weird problem, itried to update my jailbreak iphone 4.2.1 BB 6.15 but it didn’t worked, so i tried to restore my iphone using downloaded firmware 4.2.1 but in the beginning it wouldnt let me, giving me error 1015, but then on using snowbreeze restoring worked.Now iam stuck on emergency calls only…so i would really appreciate your help!
