PhyScroll: use accelerometer/volume buttons to scroll in any app
Author: pH // Category: NewsHi, I’ve been developing a new tweak called PhyScroll. PhyScroll is a tweak that allows you to scroll in any app using your iDevice’s hardware, tilting your device and/or using volume buttons to scroll up and down. It works in any app in iOS 4 and iOS 5. Available in Cydia Store for US$1,99.

Hi! I just purchased and can’t get it to activate by pressing the volume keys together. I have iPhone 4 on IOS5.0.1. Is it compatible? I wonder if another jailbreak app is interfering? I don’t get the pop up graphic just get the normal headphone volume control. Can you make it activate instead by holding down the down volume key for 3 seconds?

You can change how it activates by going into Settings>Activator>Anywhere, then go to Volume Buttons and select Both Press. Assign it to Activate PhyScroll.

Inconsistent performance and it does not work with many apps where scrolling would be useful.
Suggest limited free use so those interested can assess if it works for them before they fork over their $1.99.
Pretty disappointing, overall.

Thank you! I never knew what activator was for and been jailbroke for years. You might want to mention that for the clueless like me. Haha!!
It works! Sweet tweak! Thank you!

I really do not see the point in this tweak.. even more so I just can’t see why anybody would charge any amount of money for this.

It doesn’t work with all apps (eg. not with FB app), and often freeze my iPhone (running 4.1). This morning, after a try, I had to reinstall Ultrasn0w (I’m an unlocker). I don’t exactly know whether is “PhyScroll” causing the issue, but it’s the latest tweak I installed. Now I removed it, and the phone works as before. Little disappointed….

Some users noticed PhyScroll didn’t work nicely with specific applications. I’m working on an update to support more apps (mainly Reader and Facebook) and to improve the performance at all. Sorry for the complications with all the different apps around. Stay tuned for updates!

I had to uninstall this tweak. It interferes with the KillBackground tweak which is used to kill all running apps at once. Very unfortunate! When I had Physcroll installed whenever I went to use KillBackground, whenever I brought up the running apps tray and held on an app so it would start to wiggle to begin to kill those running apps the screen became unresponsive. I would tap anywhere and nothing would happen at all.. the apps would continue to wiggle with the deletion marks over them, but it essentially just locked up my iPhone 4. If I waited about 3-4 minutes like this, the phone would reboot itself. Being on iOS 5.0.1 tethered this is a major pain. I suspect the author needs to do something with his code to not interfere with the running apps tray.. Physcroll was probably thinking it needed to scroll that mini-bar or something. I uninstalled Physcroll and the behavior went away with KillBackground, so things are normal again. Hope you can fix this. I hate killing running processes by clicking each app in the run tray which is why I favor KillBackground tweak over Physcroll, but would love to have both.

I also have similar problem on iOS5.0, on iPhone4.
After installing this, after sometime, phone will freeze and reboot.
I am going to uninstalled this too.
FYI, I also have KillBackground, but the phone hung not when I activate KillBackground. The phone can hung in any of app I am using.
