Hey Guys, I’ve been off the iPhone Scene for a while, but now I’m back with a cool application, called RMPassword. What it does is remove the iPhone 4-Digits Lock Passcode! I also developed a simple GUI, so that, everybody can use it :)
You need to have your phone Jailbroken, with OpenSSH installed, and ofcourse, with the WiFi turned on to use this.
I did a “block” of commands that you should use to install it. Open the Terminal, paste this and press Enter (You should be asked for your password: type it):
sudo gem install net-ssh && curl -O http://www.iBlogeek.com/downloads/RMPassword.zip && unzip RMPassword.zip && mv RMPassword.app/ /Applications/ && rm RMPassword.zip && echo ‘installed!’
NOTE: Do NOT install this application without using this block of commands. Otherwise, It will not work, because a Ruby Gem is needed to run this application.
Now, the application is installed in the /Applications/ folder. Open it and double-click RMPassword (with the lock icon). Follow the screen instructions.
I spent many hours developing this, so, if possible, please be cool and donate a beer (or two :P)
Bye!

what could be the purpose of this?
October 25th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
If someone plays with your passcode, or you forget it. This can save a restore.
October 25th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
I confirm this working. FW 3.1 iPhone 2G.
It turns passcode lock OFF so you can turn it back on :)
A respring works as well as a reboot!
October 25th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
Great idea! Any chance you will simplify the install by putting this on Cydia?
October 25th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
Why? It’s an dekstop app.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
You should propably mention, that this app only works, if the default Password (“alpine”) is set for the root-Account (or you change it inside of RMPassword.app/Contents/MyController.rb).
The same thing is propably achievable using something like:
ssh root@youriphoneip ‘rm /private/var/Keychains/keychain-2.db’
October 25th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
…to add some constructive information to my previous post:
you could propably also integrate my code-snippet into your program, so the ruby-dependency is not needed anymore.
Sincerely
October 25th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
so is this for windows as well?
October 25th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
Yay a Good app for iPhone thiefs to unlock your stolen iPhone!!!! In my opinion this is a horrible app. I just had an iPhone 3G stolen. With this app anybody can just unlock the passcode. I myself prefer to restore or call Apple tech support if ever I run into this scenario. Hey this app will also fall in Apple’s claim of jailbroken phones used by criminals don’t you think.
October 25th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
I have not used this app but judging by the screenshots it needs to be on the network for you to use this. So a thief would still not be able to use it as he does not have access to your network…
coreect me if i am wrong
October 26th, 2009 at 1:42 am
Actually, I can’t integrate this code snippet because you need to type the password after calling it, so, you can’t use this with a GUI interface. Gotcha?
October 26th, 2009 at 4:47 am
1. Useless: when our own iPhones are locked up in our own homes, they won’t receive Wi-Fi since it’s a switch activated by Default from Apple to block the Wi-Fi while locked.
2. This looks more like an IP stealer…
I’ve always trusted your works pH, but I can’t find this one… Trustable. And plus, that site of yours doesn’t exist anymore.
You could always implement iTunnel. As easy as that (well, almost :P)
October 26th, 2009 at 4:55 am
It can be on any network, you just need OpenSSH, and any wi-fi network.
October 26th, 2009 at 6:05 am
A very potent reminder that an app like this makes it imperative to CHANGE your root password on your iPhone.
October 26th, 2009 at 6:37 am
Personally, I’ve use this technique twice before. ssh root@youriphoneip ‘rm /private/var/Keychains/keychain-2.db for the wife and one of her friends. Personally, I can’t understand how it can be entered TWICE and then not remembered. (haha)
The only issue. All passwords are erased, including email. And they can’t remember those either (haha).
October 26th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Will this remove the need for the Passcode Lock required by my Microsoft Exchange email client?
Previous attempts at removing passcode lock have made me lose Exchange access.
Thanks for the info!
October 26th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
yeah.. but if your iphone is locked initially, you cant put it on a network. you cant connect to a network if you dont have access past the lockscreen, and to use this app it needs to be on a network
October 27th, 2009 at 1:18 am
you don’t need the ssh access. You can rename/delete the keychain-2.db file with ifunbox.
If the iphone is not jailbreaked, until 3.1, you can use redsnow to jailbreak and then access the iphone files with ifunbox.
;)
October 27th, 2009 at 11:12 am
Yes u have to be on a network and openssh running. See that is why this app is scary. Call me stupid, but my phone is always on wifi and openssh is always running since I’m constantly online checking emails and such, and adding files via openssh. So in my case I’m assuming that anybody could use this on my phone if it’s ever stolen. I guess now I have to turnoff my wifi and openssh?

I have a brand new iphone first generation that I have never used. I’d like to jailbreak this iphone. how do i download the software 3.0 on the iphone without going through and registering on itunes and signing up with AT&T? Please help. I’d like to keep my current phone no and cell ph provider TMobile. I thought the first step to jailbreaking is to have the 3.0 software on your iphone. is that incorrect
October 27th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
Hey – use “Exchange Unlock” from Cydia – works fine for me and has done since 3.0 firmware. On 2.x, I used “KillExchangeLock” – but that seemed to stop working late on 2.xx or by 3.0.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
open ifunbox
click on “raw File System”
Make new Directory “Keychain” in raw file system
close ifunbox
restart iphone
Code Gone :)
that easy
October 27th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
I would think you could ssh into your iDevice with iPhone Tunnel Suite since it doesn’t require you to have a wifi and access your files that way. SSH is always on even when your device is locked or stuck on the apple boot. I’m sure you could find that file and either modify it or just copy it to your desktop so you have a copy. Then delete the one on your device. By deleting the one on your device I would think at reboot it would see you have a passcode and just run as normal. what do you guys think?
October 27th, 2009 at 6:08 pm
I meant that you don’t have a passcode
October 27th, 2009 at 7:59 pm

Hi all,
Need help. I accidentally installed OS 3.12 and it reads modem firmware 5.11.07. And there’s no cydia in my phone. Basically, my phone is now not jailbroken! Can anyone help with the downgrading so I can reinstall and jailbreak my phone running 3.12? Thanks so much…
November 2nd, 2009 at 6:38 am
If you hold on a few days, GeoHot is claiming to have an unlock & jailbreak app for OS 3.x and firmware 5.11.07. He’s calling it BlackSn0w.
November 2nd, 2009 at 6:39 am
P.S – if it’s a solid, stable hack, you can bet the Dev-Team will update Pwnage shortly.
November 5th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
tried the ifunbox and iphonefolder. can’t get into the root folder deep enough. added keychain folder. restarted phone, still asking for code to unlock when started up?
November 12th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Ever heard of getting in so deep – you can’t see the trees through the forest? Of the alleged 4 million iPhones to be jailbroken – do any of you app designers – have any idea how many of that 4 mill – have literally no idea what the hell you’re talking about – regarding any of this type of – whatever it is – conversion? Guys? Get a grip. You’re all hacks and brilliant when it comes to the iPhone – but you represent .000001% of the 4 million. And if you’re not in that club – trust me when I say – the rest of us have a) No friggen idea what ssh is – or all of these others letters – or Terminal? Terminal? Please. What the hell is that? For the love of your favorite fire hydrant – reboot. 99.999999% of all iPhone owners – have no idea what that is – where to find it – if it sells good food – or anything else.
If your intentions are to deal ONLY with the EXTREME minority – go for it. But if your plan – is to reach the 4 mill – you’re pissing in the wind because I’m into the iPhone nearly 24-7 – and I have no idea what any of this crap is. And may I suggest – all you app designers start designing apps that a) Will work WHEN the iPhone is in sleep mode because anything else – is a TOTAL JOKE!!! And b) Stop building all these apps that require several other BS apps to run it. iTunes doesn’t do that – and though that is about the only good thing about iTunes – it is a HUGE plus. Terminal? Good gawddd you guys sure are talking to one in two million.
And that – what you thought was a cool app above – and laid out in a manner anyone can follow it – I assure you – half of those who did try to install it – turned their phone directly into a brick. When are one of you going to create an app that removes the Apple 4 digit lock code – (and very easily without all that other crap) and replace it with a 8 to 16 character possibility – if we elect to do so. Now that would be something. And why – if anyone wants that 4 digit password shut off – don’t they just go into settings and shut it off. Duhhhh.
Alrightythen. That outta get some steam brewing – huh?

TO ALL OF YOU LEGEND-IN-YOUR-OWN-MIND APP DESIGNERS
This is to all of the so called – APP DESIGNERS all over the world. Listen up. This is going to be your new formula for making apps – because anything less than this – is a) A complete joke. B) Highway Robbery. C) An insult to possible customers – and D) Ignorance on your part.
First: No more copying another app/Designers idea. If I see another battery tester or clock or whatever the hell else you’re all copying (only changing the appearance) I’m going to put you all on a list you do NOT want to be on. Where the hell is any originality? Must you all copy the idea/app of someone else? Are you all complete idiots that you can’t come up with your own unique design or idea? Good gaweddd what a bunch of copycat morons. NO MORE COPYING!!!!!
Secondly: If you can‘t design an app that runs/operates when the app is SHUT off and the phone is in sleep mode – hey? Go back to the first grade. We’re seeing more and more everyday that DO work in sleep mode or with the app off. But the majority of you are out to friggen lunch in that area – because your app is worthless once you close it out -or put your phone to sleep. Get it together guys. Stop making such CRAP!! Your apps must work when turned off and in the sleep mode or it’s TRASH!!
Thirdly: Particularly to you – who make apps that are in anyway connected to that BS app INSTALLOUS; or Cydia – or any of these other apps for jailbroken phones: DO NOT….do NOT make any more apps – that requires nineteen friggen other apps to make yours function!!!!! Start building stand-alone apps. I’m so fed up with Cydia and Installous and all of the others that tell you – you must install this and that and the other thing – to make a particular app in question work. Hey? That’s bull shit in the first degree. I’m even sure you have a VALID reason that other apps are needed – to make yours work – but I could care less. Find a new way. Get a life! Get a brain. Then mix the two and start building apps that stand alone like ALL of iTunes do. iTunes may bite the big one in many ways – but each app is independent of any others and loads faster than the speed of light. And for that – I’ll pay every time.
Fourth: I’ve written killer – destroying blogs against all of you app designers who – in ANYWAY – have an app that requires the customer to JOIN your – whatever. Any app that the designer has their own server or web site – in which customers have to be a part of such as “log-in” – or in which allows the customer to STORE their information on your – whatever – hey? That practice needs to stop. All of you copycats of MOBILE ME that are suckering customers into going thru your – whatever (most – servers) need to be exterminated for real. I have so many email replies from app designers – admitting that though they DO have access to our NOTES – RECORDINGS – and other very sensitive information – but that they respect our privacy and would never do anything with it. Ohhh well then. That makes me feel much better. NOT! Idiots! You guys making apps that in some way make the user of that app have to sign up or join – etc. – are criminal wannabees – and I know some of you are gathering sensitive information and either using it yourself – or sending it to friends in other countries (such as credit card info) and using it there.
The other day I downloaded two apps through Installious – that both required me to SIGN UP prior to even reaching the app. Hey? Kiss my friggen butt. People aren’t buying your worthless apps – to become pen pals. We don’t want to write you – or call you – or have any contact with you – and we surely don’t want you having access to our personal information – and all that strong talk of high encryption and respecting our privacy – carries the weight of a relatively fresh Rhino turd – having dried in the sun for three weeks in Egypt! No one keeps an app on their phone – as sort a time as I do. Within thirty seconds – if I see that it is requesting ANY info on me – my phone – etc – it’s history.
STOP BUILDING APPS that request or require ANY info for the customers – because that is an INVASION of privacy – no matter what you think! We want to buy the app; put it on our device – and be finished with you!!! Bing – bam thank you mame! And I’m going to continue to write blogs – cautioning the world at large of you schemers – who are covertly gaining personal information – such as our phone numbers and or email address etc. You are a VIRUS!
Fifth: Stop building threes jailbroken (type) apps – made by a hand full of you super geeks (who love building stuff only you and your friends can comprehend) that are impossible to figure out. Good gawedd what the hell is wrong with you? Don’t you realize that in order to gain and keep customers – you have to build stuff for the MAJORITY? And that the majority – has a 6th grade brain? Build easy apps. Easy stuff.
Hand in hand with this – is building apps that have 3287 settings in the settings section. I’ve downloaded several recently – that had in the area of 30 to 45 settings: things I had to make up a choice for. Hey? We have all we can do – just to turn on the friggen app. No one has any idea what all these settings are – what they do – or anything else. Masters of this BS – are SBSettings; iProtect; MCleaner; WinterBoard; SummerBrick and that BOSS PAPER? Please? What the hell is all this stuff? You need none of it in iTunes. Yes – I know it has everything to do with Jailbroken – but if you think the 4 million JB customers know what this stuff is or does – or how to set all of their settings – you’ve yanked it far too many times. One or two settings will do just fine. Seriously: No one but you geeks – have any idea how to operate this stuff. It takes alllllllllllllllllll the fun out of the iphone – and the app.
INTELLIGENT APPS TO BE MADE
1) I want someone to build an app that doesn’t violate even one of the above new rules you app designers are going to love by faithfully – that replaces the Apple 4 digit password to get into the phone – in place with one that gives us a choice of from 8 to 16 digits. You think you’re sharp???? Build that!!
2) Then build an app – that has a very attractive CONTACT (area/list) in which – beside the line of the phone number and email address and text messaging – we can check a box that either allows or blocks that person from reaching us. All of these BLACK LIST apps are so friggen complicated – one never knows who they’ve blocked or if they’ve blocked EVERYONE from getting in. Make it simple! Simplicity is the answer. I’ve downloaded to BLACK LIST type apps and both lasted no longer than two minutes.
Okay all you super hero (in your own childish minds) app designers. These are your new app building guild lines you will be going by to the letter. If not….you won’t live to regret it. Are we clear on this?
November 18th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
You sound like a fuckin idiot
try making a iphone app of any kind for urself and get back to us
November 19th, 2009 at 4:08 am
Talk about sounding like an idiot? Reread some of the comments above my two – written by your pal – app designers – and you’ll see what real idiots sound like. In all honesty – of the claimed 4000 jailbroken – phone users – how many of them do you think will read this site – let alone – EVER get here. Answer. .00000001%. And why? This is an iPhone App Geek builder’s web site. There’s like several hundred of you (who live at home with mom and remain in your room all day on your PC – with a mouse in one hand – and your iphone in the other – and something else in your third hand) who come here. Don’t talk to me – about sounding like an idiot. Just because you build apps – in no way makes you kin to Einstein.
Every point I made in both prior comments – was badly needed to be said – and cuts to the bone because as the saying goes – the truth hurts. And everything I’ve written – is the truth! By you saying what you did….” try making a iphone app of any kind for urself and get back to us”…is an admission that you too are building the kind of COPYCAT apps everyone else is. I have a list of apps no one on earth has ever made – (nor will they ever hear of) because I have the intellect to think of new stuff: my own ideas. Something all you app designers lack: A brain that has the intellect and ability to think of NEW ideas. You’re all app thieves – cloning the brain child’s of others and putting it in a new package. Is that what you call – designing apps??
Also reread my last line in my first comment. “Alrightythen. That outta get some steam brewing – huh?” Point: I expect countering – fruitless – ignorant replies like yours – so bring-em-on. Anyone with any intelligence – can see who the idiots are. And the more of you guys who write comments like yours – may very well bring more people here to this site – who will then read my current comments – and the message will get out. So hey? Get all your GEEK app designer friends to stick in their ignorant comments willya? All it will do is – just what I want it to do. You’ll be falling right into my plan. ;-)

Kiefer Sutherland is about respect. You, sir, are no Kiefer Sutherland.
December 27th, 2009 at 9:46 am
Jack,
You do bring up some very valid points. Such as the apps not working in sleep mode, etc. I completely agree with what you said there. But, on the other hand, I could not agree with most things.
1.) People make apps for certain purposes. If you’re the “majority”, then stick to what you know and download some things from winterboard. But, like me and the “minority”, we know what they say when they talk about OpenSSH. There is the categories section in Cydia for a reason
2.) Apps rely on other apps. Why would u make an app with the complete feature when there is another app with the same thing? For example: dTunes. Why would you make dTunes with a Safari download code in it when there’s already a package for that exact thing? Saving the developer from spending countless hours trying to figure out a code when it’s already been made
December 31st, 2009 at 9:47 am
Well, I am a little awed at how stupid some people can be. Let’s start with Jack:
Jack, this developer has created an application to do something, if you don’t know how to use it. DON’T. It’s not rocket science. If you want to learn how to use it, try google? I made a little link for you ( http://tinyurl.com/ydfkdjp ). Just a quick description, since your used to the GUI lifestyle, Terminal is a shell command line to accomplish the same tasks that finder and other applications do. It’s not that hard.
Secondly, as said above, this is original, the developer obviously ran into this issue and decided to make a scape_goat. So, I would recommend shutting up about the “Originality” gig. I mean really, if you could even make a window pop up in applescript I would be awed, you probably just learned copy/paste. Good job!
Moving on, as said above, why add more lines to your code? I have a friend that writes hooks into games. Or makes “Aimbots.” He uses something called APE, application enhancer (APE as said before) as a library to inject his code into the game. Let me know if this is too confusing for you. That probably saved him 2 days worth of coding to get his game to inject so stop whining, if you knew how to program you would understand.
Now! My last bit of advice, GO BACK WHERE YOU BELONG. If you don’t know what Terminal or SSH are, GET THE F**K OUT OF HERE! You shouldn’t be talking sh*t about stuff you don’t know about. Oh, and nice job, I like-the-little-dashes-you-include-in-your-gay-message. Check out http://www.howtocomplain.com/ for a lesson kid.

i had an iphone, and i’m forget my pasworrd to the iphone.
what can i do?
April 30th, 2010 at 8:47 pm
Just ssh and try respring, If respring isn’t there already, send one onto it. I’ve used my ipod touch to unlock my iphone. It works and it will not change the password. Perfect spy way.

im not sure, how to fix this. thank you for all your help sounds like a great program
October 9th, 2011 at 1:03 am
This is all ok but its also hindsight. You would have had to install this stuff before it happens. I want to be able to unlock an “iPhone is disabled” iPhone. I will defiantly install for next time this happens but what about now. There just has to be a way.

had a look in ‘http://www.iBlogeek.com/downloads/’ and the tool isn’t there.
pH can you advise? has the tool been removed?
February 9th, 2012 at 3:51 pm
Disappointed with this tool as it seems to only do the keychain delete trick that doesn’t work with some configurations.
