I have added a special repo for beta testing SBSettings. In it, I have put an update to SBSettings and SBSettings toggles. I am looking for testers that are interested in testing things out. However, there are some rules you must agree to before doing this:
1) This is a beta repo. It should never be given out. It must never appear in any “all sources” packages. As soon as that happens, the repo will be removed. Steffwiz / pwncenter already *ruined* my last beta repo.
2) If you install anything from this repo, you are not going to look for tech support. You will need to be able to send syslogs if there are any springboard crashes or major problems. You can do so with logmailer. If you do not know how to do these things, please do not install the beta repo.
3) If there are issues, you must be capable of describing them well with details and willing to work through them to solve the problems rather than just reverting to an old version with “it didnt work”.
4) As this is beta software, I cannot guarantee its stable (although its working well for me and initial testers). Therefore, if you have a 3gs with no 3.1.2 SHSH stored in Cydia, I suggest you do not bother with the beta tests as long as there is no 3.1.3 jailbreak out.
Ok now that has been said, if you are interested in testing and helping out, please add the repo at this address: http://thebigboss.org/betarepo
Whats new so far:
- Added app sorting in hidden icons and dock applications section of more app.
- Added ability to switch to max 2 rows. This keeps smaller window for those that want it. Find the option in extras in more app. On firmwares 2.x max of 8 toggles would be the limit. On 3.x you would be able to scroll pages.
- Added “App Folders” section to the more app to get the path to a specific app folder. Useful for trying to fiddle with appstore apps that have cryptic locations.
- Added Activator support. You must have rpetrich’s activator v1.3 or newer. Also beta. We are waiting on the thumbs up from the sbsettings beta test and then this all goes live.
- Removed EDGE toggle which only worked on 2.x devices and replaced it with DATA toggle that should work on all devices.

Thanks BigBoss!
Beta 3 seems to be working like a champ.
Had a question in regards to syslogd, though. The deb file on saurik’s source is not found, so I have CrashReporter with no syslogd and I’ve been digging aroud the Internet for syslogd.
Where can I find the syslogd deb file?
Thanks.

I would love to help in this beta repo.
And what do I send the crash reports to?
March 28th, 2010 at 11:55 pm
Nice bigboss.
hope there will be a landscape version of SBSettings, tooin the near future.
The landscape support is last thing that i miss on SBSettings. This will a most used feature when you have SBRotator also installed.
thx

I can scroll through the pages very good.

l’m using iPhone3gs earlybootrom.
very nice.
March 29th, 2010 at 2:49 am
About the data toggle… if i reboot the phone it still works or i have to enable iteverytime?
March 29th, 2010 at 2:51 am
Unother thing..no plans for landscape supports? now all the apps and also quick reply apps supports landscape mode…
March 29th, 2010 at 3:13 am
In Addition to the data toggle i’d like to have a
Data-Roaming Toggle, because this should work without the long Delay on Data-Activation.
I prefer to have Data always on in my Country and toggle Data-Roaming if needed in other Countries.
March 29th, 2010 at 3:35 am
It would be’ nice landscape support
March 29th, 2010 at 5:21 am
I already posted this in a different section but not sure if anyone looked into it so I figured I would repost it here…
Is it possible to create an app or hidden app that I can configure to turn toggles on and off based upon apps….
What I mean is if I open safari is there a way to have my wifi turned on every time safari opens then once safari closes the wifi
turns off… or If I open up navigon or XGPS have my gps toggle turned on then once I close navigon or XGPS the gps toggle automatically turns off all this to save battery and a few steps from sb settings…..
March 29th, 2010 at 5:44 am
You have to enable it everytime. If you want it to persist on reboots, install data blocker in cydia.

March 29th, 2010 at 8:21 pm
I have a 3G running 3.1.2 just upgradrde to 3.0.6b and now a can not use edge. Needa solution as I am not lways in a wifi area and I am on T-mobile so I can not use 3G. PLEASE HELP!!!!
March 29th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
Is 3.0.6b4 supposed to be in the main repo? I don’t have the beta repo added, but Cydia is asking me to upgrade.
March 29th, 2010 at 8:35 pm
ok, when i loaded Cydia today, it said i had two updates and they were for SBSettings and SBSettings toggles. i do not have any beta repos added. Is SBSettings v3.0.6b4 a beta version? and if so someone must have done exactly what you didnt want them to do. My question now, is how to i downgrade to the previous stables versions? Thanks
March 29th, 2010 at 8:43 pm
Added note: This was in Cydia as an upgrade, I never installed your beta repo.
March 29th, 2010 at 9:07 pm
Same problem as G…please help! Need to be able to access T-mobile Edge with new Data toggle, or somehow downgrade to earlier version of SBSettings so I can access Edge.
I did not install the beta repo, but just updated SBSettings when Cydia asked me to this evening.
March 29th, 2010 at 9:27 pm
Why EDGE toggle is GONE? It has been working very well on my 3GS and I have no complaint about it. This morning when I wake up, I installed the update in dream and found that the EDGE toggle is now replaced with Data toggle, which in my opinion is much worse. It will freeze when toggle and enable/disable doesn’t always work. I want EDGE back!!!!! Don’t remove it but put it along side with both EDGE and Data and let people choose!
March 29th, 2010 at 11:15 pm
I have the EDGE switched off at the moment I upgraded. Now no matter how I switch the Data toggle or turn on/off or reboot the iPhone the data still doesn’t work…. I’m stuck!
March 29th, 2010 at 11:58 pm
Hey,
Was just having same issue as you (and G, and a few others above)…couldn’t get an edge connection with new data toggle.
I tried rebooting and some other things…reinstalling sbsettings a few times, then found something that brought my Edge back!
First, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings…this will force a reboot. Do the tethered reboot with Blackra1n, then disable all network options in sbsettings. Restart springboard from sbsettings, then hit the data toggle…I did this process two or three times, and now my Edge works again! Data toggle totally switches my Edge on and off.
However, if you’re listening Big Boss, I still want the Edge toggle back…it was way faster, and being on T-mobile I’ll never use 3g. Other than that, thanks as always for the awesome app!
March 30th, 2010 at 12:37 am
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll try and see if that solves the problem.
On the other hand, if we can select EDGE / Data toggle on / off in sbsettings, why don’t let users choose what they want? The problem is, we all know the Data toggle is no better than EDGE if EDGE works for you. To me the EDGE toggle is just perfect (even I’m on 3G network). If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
March 30th, 2010 at 1:32 am
Hi,
Good job.
I found one issue though,
While in Lock screen, i’m able to access sbsettings by swiping the statusbar although in sbsettings’s settings this option is Off!
Please fix it :)
Thanks!
March 30th, 2010 at 1:37 am
I Would like an option to have the old EDGE toggle as an option on 3.x as well (the new DATA one doesn’t seem to work for me, it kills my cellular data till i reboot).
March 30th, 2010 at 1:38 am
Thanks mate,it works!
March 30th, 2010 at 3:13 am

March 30th, 2010 at 5:52 am

March 30th, 2010 at 6:01 am
I had the same problem, upgraded to SB 3.06b4 and EDGE and 3G connections go down.
I have been reset the network settings and the connection go UP! the bad thing is that i have lost the wifi passwords of knows networks.
March 30th, 2010 at 4:49 pm

Just update the toggle pack and enable EDGE.
April 2nd, 2010 at 2:23 am
You can select this option inside the activator settings pane in the settings app.
April 2nd, 2010 at 4:59 am
Just not working. Installed the update yesterday and I didn’t get any EDGE or 3G connection, doesn’t matter what I’m doing. Deactivating DATA-Toggle and activation of this, brings me the SIM-lock dialog and I have to unlock my SIM.
At the moment my only possiblity is to use Wifi, but this can’t be the solution. How can I get EDGE and 3G working again? Tried already all hints from above, but now success :-(
Best regards
Michael

My wifi and 3g/edge are sporadic now I’ll need to reboot or respring when I need to access the net
April 3rd, 2010 at 7:54 am
I have two problems with 3.0.6b4
1. Every time my iPhone is wake up it needs a few seconds to connect to my WLAN. With the old sbsettings it’s done directly. A few times I have to switch my wifi off and on to get it work again.
2. Sometimes I lost my connection to 3G/Edge.
When I lost the connection my SIM is locked.
I think it has something to do with the toggle of edge and data.
Is there a way to get the old sbsettings back?
In Cydia I can see only the 3.0.6b4.
Thanks!
April 3rd, 2010 at 8:18 am
i would like to know the same where to get old sbsettings from
someone dropped the ball on this one and added the beta to the main repo or something cause i never added the beta repo
please bigboss put back previous sbsetting on repo
April 8th, 2010 at 5:18 am
- no probs yet with 3.06 beta on 3G under 3.1.2
- data-toggle is worthfull abroad for comfortable controll of data-roaming
- like in 3.05 Numeric GSM is worthfull for directing the iPhone to higher GSM-strenght, if the net is weak.
But the way displaying it is still not good: e.g. -103 as signal strenght.
Better to show positiv values and max 2 digits.
Thanks, dear Saurik! Peter

Hi people,
since the last update I have this bug to report:
the wifi ip field is reporting a constant ip value (192.168.20.1) which is not my ip. Even if I toggle wifi off it keeps reporting the same ip. I tried resprings, reboots, reinstalls with no result. The ip remains the same over and over. Is this a known bug or am I the only one affected? Can somebody help?

… small discomfort detected:
If one choose an some Apps to SB-Settings-dock (by dock Applications) they`ll miss on the sprinboard.
It´s necessery to unhide them (by Hide applications).
… small improvement to the new Data-Toggle: Instead of “E” inside the toggle use “D” D = Data.
Thanks, Peter

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I love my JB 2G. When I bought my new 3GS, I put
my old 2G in its box and stored it away. After
awhile, I began reading about jail breaking and since my 2G was unusable in its “brick” state, I
figured I would try to JB it. Wow, I was amazed
to see my 2G come back to life and now it is beyond my wildest dreams. I have no desire to
upgrade to 4GS. I use my 3GS primarily for making calls and for web surfing with 3G net.
Aloha and Mahalo.

Bigboss, I have updated to v3.0.13, and I notice that the EDGE butoon was replaced by DATA, anyway, internet stoped working on EDGE, any suggestion? do I need something else updated?

Bigboss, the latest update f-ed up my phone, I can’t get to internet anymore. At the time I was doing update, I was at home and 3G-Edge-Data were all turned off via SBSettings and I got the update through Cydia and with latest version, Edge toggle is removed. Although I turn on 3G-Data, I can’t get to internet because Edge was turned off before update. I tried almost everything (reboot-respring-on/off 3G/Data/Wifi/SSH etc.) I can’t get it working.
Please help.
Thanks

I found solution to my problem by following the steps below.
If you’re experiencing an issue where the iPhone refuses to access network data (Web pages [Safari reports "Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server."], email, Google Maps data, etc.), the fix may be drop-dead simple:
1.Tap Settings
2.Tap General
3.Tap Reset
4.Tap Reset Network Settings
This will cause your iPhone to restart, and will delete any stored Wi-Fi passwords as well as DNS settings and more. It may, however, restore your ability to join a stubborn wireless network, let you access stalled Web pages, or eliminate issues with EDGE data access that can occur for various reasons.
