Note: We just released activator v1.3. With this version, you can select your activation method(s) for SBSettings if you wish to change it to something other than swiping the statusbar. Just don’t get into a situation where you disable it entirely!
I have updated SBSettings toggle pack to v3.0.6. This fixes an issue from last night’s update where if you had disabled EDGE using the EDGE toggle then updated with EDGE turned off, there was no way to reenable it because the new Data toggle uses another method to enable data. In addition, I have added back the EDGE toggle by request. I guess the thing actually did work for some people. Go figure. Now you can choose which one to use. No need for both. Pick one and go with it. If EDGE works for you, use that as it behaves much better. If not, Data should definitely work although is much slower on reenable plus if you have a sim pin, data toggle will require you to reenter your pin since it resets carrier connection.
Bosspaper got another update tonight. I have added a button at the bottom of the configuration app to choose your aspect ratio. Your choices are:
1) Stretch – stretches the image to fill the screen regardless of aspect ratio. (This is how bosspaper has been all along.
2) Zoom – Keeps aspect ratio and fills the screen. It will possibly crop off part of the image if the image is not the right size.
3) Fit – Keeps the aspect ratio of the images but if the image does not fill the screen you may have black bars above and below the image.

hm, only get b4 here
March 30th, 2010 at 7:02 am
Why SBSettings v3.0.6b4 is in the main repo, is it stable version from now?
March 30th, 2010 at 7:06 am
stay on 3.0.6. update has some issues with edge/data. bigboss took 3.0.6b4 already back
March 30th, 2010 at 7:09 am
?? there is no sbsettings 3.06 apart from b4 – toggles are online now
March 30th, 2010 at 7:16 am
you mean 3.0.5? 3.0.5 was last stable release
and as I see, nothing was took back, 3.0.6b4 the only available version from main bigboss repo
March 30th, 2010 at 7:27 am
ok than i mean 3.0.5
I don’t know if 3.0.6b4 was already taken back cause i have no moblie internet right now (Edge/Data issue) but you can read that bigboss released toggles to “activate” Edge again. think that 3.0.6b4 will remain only toggles is “new”
March 30th, 2010 at 8:21 am
Any issues with this update against SBSettings v 3.0.6b4? I had major crashes when SBSettings included Activator capabilities and had to restore twice. If this is only to fix the Edge situation, I think I’ll pass.
March 30th, 2010 at 10:10 am
just did the boss paper and sbsettings update via cydia. have a jailbroken 3.1.3 3GS. after the update, all i get is a spinning wheel (of now death) on the lockscreen in an endless loop. tried a hard reset. no good.
any ideas before i do a last resort restore?
March 30th, 2010 at 10:20 am
Well, Thanks for the update, the problem is I can’t find the vpn toogle, and it’s not in the toogles managment menu.
March 30th, 2010 at 12:32 pm
Strange for mi edge stop working i have to enable data and edge. What Happen? Any solution for that? Till today edge work corectly for me
March 30th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
First, you never had to restore. Second, this was a beta version and the current is stable.
March 30th, 2010 at 5:56 pm
Is the beta meant to be in the official repo? It seems many are having serious issues after upgrading
March 31st, 2010 at 1:33 am
How to get back to early version on SBSettings? 3.0.5 worked way better, with new version battery time dropped a lot.
March 31st, 2010 at 1:34 am
I’m on a iPhone 3G v3.1. It updated automatically via the beta repo to 3.0.6b4. When the phone is renooted it starts in mobile substrate safe mode ie “sad face”. I’ve tried disabling all other mobile substrate add ons but it is definitely SBSettings that is the problem. Now completely uninstalled SBSettings and thhe phone boots fine. Please can we have the stable version back?!
March 31st, 2010 at 1:35 am
i upgraded to 306b4 from the official repo. had to restore after an infinite springboard restart on the lockscreen. (3.1.3 3GS jailbroken with snowbreeze)
after restoring i tried the latest SBsettings again, same prob but at least it always dumped me to safe mode. so had to uninstall SBsettings. anywhere i can download the previous version as it worked fine?
March 31st, 2010 at 5:53 am
Downgraded manually to 3.0.5, everything’s OK again :)
March 31st, 2010 at 6:57 am
Thanks for bringing EDGE back, this is the greatest update I’ve ever performed.
March 31st, 2010 at 9:35 am
Boss can you at least acknoledge us, not very cool to put out a very unstable beta update and then just leave it there knowing it has serious issues. PLEASE WITHDRAWL THE BETA UPDATE
March 31st, 2010 at 3:41 pm
BigBoss: can we now theme the 320×480 respring.png image? Thank you.
April 1st, 2010 at 3:32 am
TheBigBoss, please do sth … why did you insert beta software to the official repo?? My three 3G[S]s hangs up at boot, they boot for 10 minutes, after this iPhones are in Safe Mode. After uninstalling SBS everything is ok. I installed 3.0.5 from deb with dpkg –force-all beacause it conflicts with libactivator. Now I can’t install anything from Cydia because it first removes SBS 3.0.5.
Please do sth!!
April 1st, 2010 at 9:15 am
Cmon boss ur better than this ……
April 1st, 2010 at 1:13 pm
Cmon, no WHITE icon TEXT on Bosspaper??????????????????? Am forced to use winterboard that I don’t like because with bosspaper icon fonts look invisible with some wallpapers.
April 1st, 2010 at 3:05 pm
how do i get 3.0.5 back on my 3GS, cos this new beta from the official repo is respring/safe mode city..help!
April 2nd, 2010 at 2:09 am
There is no beta version in the main repo. 3.0.6b4 is stable and has been released. It is not beta.
Most people had issues with the new data toggle because they had EDGE off, updated the toggle pack, and then the new data toggle wouldn’t reenable their data because EDGE toggle turned it off and was gone. This was fixed with a toggle pack update no more than 5 hours later.
There are no serious issues in the latest update. As always, there are lots of “sbsettings caused my battery to drain”, “sbsettings caused my status bar to vanish”, “sbsettings caused my iphone to freeze and not boot”, “sbsettings causes my device to be in safe mode”. I have helped many people solve many of these issues via email and none of them have yet turned out to be at all related to sbsettings. Through debugging with logmailer app in cydia, we can figure out exactly what the problem(s) are and solve them.
The latest sbsettings version has 420,000 installs already. If there was such an epidemic, I would be literally flooded with emails. Last time I released a truly bad sbsettings, I had 200 emails in 45 minutes! Instead, its just the normal influx of issues. Further, this post has a mere 24 comments. If the version released was truly unstable, the thread would have over 100 comments on the first day (this is from experience). A couple hundred people having problems out of 420,000 is really not a lot.
There appears to be an issue with irealsms and sbsettings wifi toggle in some cases (wifi toggle has not changed and is the exact same binary since last July 2009). I cannot reproduce it, but after looking at the crash report, sbsettings was not in the crashing thread.
Installing sbsettings and getting a spinning wheel of death is not an sbsettings issue. There have been many occurrences of spinning wheels of death on iphone reboot lately and no one really knows why. It seems that something is causing some corruption in the file system but everything works fine and then the next reboot (which could be days later) results in spinning wheel. Of course user blames the very last thing they did :( Saurik is putting out some fixes to some core packages. I hope this will solve these spinning wheel reboot issues.
If anyone wants help solving their issues, please email me. My email address is extremely easy to find via this website or in Cydia. I am happy to help if you are willing to describe the problem well and perform some debug steps to get more information. Forcing a downgrade to 3.0.5 will not solve the issue. 3.0.5 is gone, we are moving forward. Libactivator v1.3 is out and used in many apps and that now *conflicts* with sbsettings 3.0.5 so those cannot exist together.

Have you tried? I see no reason that you cant. Worst case you can replace it with your own. Also, if you have a much nicer one, maybe I can use it in the future.
April 2nd, 2010 at 2:14 am
One final note: Kurt Hitchen, one of the commenters above that had safe mode problems did email and the result was that his problem is now solved. If I remember correctly, it turned out that he solved his safe mode “caused by sbsettings” by removing the gruppled theme and lockinfo. He currently is running sbsettings 3.0.6b4 with no issues.

Much apologies heres what the problem was. I had enabled the swipe left and right features in activator myself via plist and assigned actions to them. Upon upgrading it assigned sbsettings to those actions automagically so i had somehow scuffed it up. I removed my actions and reinstalled and it works as it should. Sorry for any miscommunication/disrespect.
Again sorry BigBoss
April 2nd, 2010 at 10:05 am
No problems Rusty. I am glad things are sorted out. If anyone else has any problems please email so we can resolve them.
April 2nd, 2010 at 10:08 am
i uninstalled iRealSMS and so far so good. no more safe mode. cheers BB.
April 2nd, 2010 at 3:13 pm
I installed the update and my wifi stopped working. I uninstalled sbsetthings, then reinstalled it. The wifi would see the networks, but is unable to connect to any wifi. has this happened to anyone else?

I solved problem with Safe Mode at boot.
“scrobbl” causes this problem and after uninstalling it everything works ;)
Thanks BigBoss.
April 4th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
Yeah, works fine without “Scrobbl”. Anyone know if there is an alternative on Cydia? Scrobble and Scrobbled don’t work above OS3. There is an app on iTunes but you need the app open all the time for the scrobbling to work..
April 4th, 2010 at 2:23 pm
Can someone please help me. I still can not get EDGE to work. It keeps saying, “Could not activate cellular network” HELP!!!!!
April 4th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
Noticed a weird occurance on 3.06b4
The Toggles for launch in call and launch when locked dont work. It always lauches when locked and never launches when in a call.
De-Installed and re-installed. Same problem.
Ideas?
April 4th, 2010 at 6:33 pm
I update all, im on 3.1.2 3g blackra1n and thanks god its all working ok so people go ahead.
April 4th, 2010 at 6:36 pm
Why????
April 5th, 2010 at 4:47 am
Sorry to reply OFF TOPIC:
If anyone is disappointed at the problems with SCROBBL, my advice would be to add the official Iscrobble Lite (from Apple App Store) and then get Backgrounder from Cydia. This allows you to effectively minimise Iscrobble Lite so that you can use other apps. Works for me and no Safe Mode crashes :-)
April 6th, 2010 at 11:36 am
Does anyone have 3.0.5? My EDGE WILL NOT WORK and I need it. I might just be one person with one phone but I need help and would appreciate it. Thank you
April 6th, 2010 at 2:23 pm
Try to sell the phone lol
April 7th, 2010 at 10:16 pm
HIDE ICONS is NOT working
I can turn them off, it will respring and the icons are all still there just as they would be normally.
Ive tried hiding from sbsettings, and the bossprefs app.
I cant seem to find anyone else with the problem?
everything else works.
Please help
Thanks.

The current SBsettings is stable as far as I know. I had that tested with a lot of other extensions and what not on my 3GS (3.1.2).
The instant I added I included any action/gesture via Activator that had anything to do with the status bar >>> CRASH > REBOOT x 2 > Safe Mode > more testing.
I finally realised I had also linked activating SBSettings using Activator itself. After that happened, as I was installing another item, I had to respring. And my hours of agonising constantly rebooting never stopped till I traced my steps back.
So then, back in Safe Mode (thank you Winterboard!) via Cydia, I had no choice but to remove Activator. Once I resprung, immediately everything came back without a problem!
April 8th, 2010 at 10:52 pm
Oh and one other thing, this latest SBSettings also makes my Wifi and Phone signal fluctuate from almost nothing to just so so at times…. just realised.
April 10th, 2010 at 1:32 am
I have a, what I would call, a critical issue with SBSettings.
Even though I went through all the options, I can still access SBSettings on the lockscreen, and be able to mess with SBSettings without having to enter the PassCode.
Any updates on this issue? Other than that, the new update is fine. Thanks.

I have been on 3.0.6b4 for weeks and it has been working fine. However, I can’t display more than 12 toggles anymore or get the 13th toggle to flow to a second page. Also, the location toggle is gone and I can’t find it in the repo. Any suggestions?
December 4th, 2010 at 8:18 am
Oops, I got into a situation where I disabled it entirely! How can SBSettings be re-opened?
