This is a tool that I whiped up to assist in the downgrade of firmware 3.1 to 3.0 (or if you’re lucky 3.0.1) using Saurik’s method.
In order for his method to work you had to allow Cydia to store your 3Gs SHSH key.
This tool is ONLY for 3Gs iPhones and is NOT a jailbreak method, only an assistant!

I was able to jailbreak after downgrading to 3.0 but whe I sync the iphone it doesn’t bring in the music or the favorite phone #’s. Also, the version shows 3.0 but the modem firmware still shows 5.11.07. Any ideas on how to bring the music in without updating to 3.1??

Hi … @ BigBoss … my ECID SHSH is registered on file with Cydia … i am trying to go back to OS 3.0 from OS 3.0.1 but no success… had used the procedure of Saurik and even the 3Gs Downgrade Assistance but still not success … this Downgrade Assistance or Saurik Method, is it applicable from OS 3.0.1 to OS 3.0 to restore?

If you are on 3.0.1 you don’t need to downgrade. You can jailbreak/unlock your 3GS using redsn0w if you have your phone running on 3.0.1 firmware. This is for the people who upgraded to 3.1, which does not have a jailbreak released yet.
In order to restore you will need to change the “hosts” file so that iTunes verifies the firmware through saurik’s server instead of Apple’s.

Thanks to all who are involved for supporting the community.
The idea with Sauriks server is very good, but has a couple of issues, some of which might become real problems in the future.
If you are not JBroken and you connect to the cydia server by bypassing the overlord, there is no way to find out if your “blob” was properly stored.
In any case, if your blob was correctly stored, there is no simple way to find out for which FW version.
There is no way to download your own blob.
The solution with Sauriks cydia server is a certainly a great achievement. However, if I understand correctly the case how he collects blobs from phones that are not JBroken, the phone sends its ECID to his server and cydia obtains the signed blob from Apple.
This method would have the problem, that Apple could simply stop signing ECIDs arriving from his server and then any tool for a solution based on the Cydia server would become obsolete.
In the long run, it would probably be better for the community to have each “blob” stored locally on the computer of the owner of the iPhone and to have restoring, downgrading and JBreaking tools that do not depend on the Cydia server.
This would also avoid increasing bandwidth costs for Saurik when the number of users of his server continues to grow.

Local storage is always good. Perhaps a combination of the Cydia and the Firmware Umbrella is the best solution right now?
But, as stated above, unfortunately there is no way for the user to check if a specific SHSH is stored by Cydia on non-jb phones, except by trying to do a restore. It would be great if there was a way to check the Saurik server by inputting an ECID, but that can’t be done right now, as I understand it.
Perhaps this Downgrade Assistant can be enhanced with the option to do just that?

When I open Cydia App, it states that I have a 3.0 ECID SHSH on file.
My questions is – How do we know whether we are one of the lucky ones who actually have a 3.0.1 ECID SHSH – will it explicitly state so in Cydia?

i tried to make my iphone work again by jailbreaking… now it works though
my problem is still unresolve.. i have working iphone 3g already but still no signal… i tried ultrasnow but it didnt work… i have a 3.0 05.11.07 modem firmware and a 05.09 bootloader which i learned by downloading the fuzzyband.. can i downgrade my bootloader so i can downgrade the modem firmware?
or is there anything i can do to make my iphone work as a mobile again?

I’d updated to 3.1 on my 3gs, does it mean I can do nothing but wait at this moment if I wanna use Cydia?
Also how am I suppose to backup ECID SHSH on Cydia’s server if I don’t even have Cydia on my 3gs this moment?

@Wilbert: you cant jailbreak now..
for ECID you can direct your itunes to saurik’server…you can check saurick’s article on many websites ….google it… when you are done directing your itunes,,you have to restore and your ECID and other files are saved for future restoring to 3.1..

To all those still asking “how can I get my ECID on file at Cydia?” : stop asking, it is no longer possible. There is no way for any-one to calculate the hashes anymore. The opportunity was closed off on Sept 15th I believe.
So, if you have a 3GS on OS 3.1, and you never put ECID on file at cydia, then all you can do is wait until a new jailbreak is available.

People still can get their ECID signatures for 3.1 which is the current FW.. To be used in the future when apple blocks restoring to 3.1 if and when a jailbreak is found for 3.1.. But they cant get signatures for previous firmwares anymore.

hi so i’ve been needing to restore for nearly two weeks. i had to unfortunate luck of having problems the same day apple stopped signing 3.0. i have a 3gs. i need to have my phone again so if i restore now to 3.1 what are my chances of being able of jailbreaking again in the future? i’m on att so unlock is not a concern for me just jb. thanks

@ temp screwed ; you didn’t say if you are effectively on 3.1
Supposing that you are indeed on 3.1, then you might aswell try the downgrade to 3.0 procedure as described in this post http://thebigboss.org/2009/09/14/31-3gs-downgrade-for-the-chosen/
If that works then you had the ECID on file, if the downgrade doesn’t complete then you’ll be stuck in 3,1

When you unlock and JB’ed phone went to 3.1, its baseband also got upgraded. When you downgraded it back to 3.0, its baseband does not changed back. So it becomes an locked phone again. It can be used only with the original carrier’s SIM.
To know possible what is the original carrier, I suggest you look at the ‘Model’ no. in the ‘General’ screen, e.g. mine is MC134ZP. ZP means it is from Hong Kong, LL from US, X from Australia etc. Knowing what is the model and location, you should be able to check who the offical carrier is.

Ok here is the question I got 3.0 ECID SHSH file saved on cydia for my 3gs but when I went to settings>general it says I have 3.0.1 O.S and that makes kinda sense cuz I have used redsnow for 3.0 while having 3.0.1 update can anybody tell me if I’m safe restoring my device if yes how to do it safely I have screen shots and all the files I have used for JB my 3 gs

Thanks fir everyone who has worked extra hard giving us what apple should. My question is similar to everyone elses and I can’t seem to find an explination. 3gs w/3.1 I was on 3.0 and cydia stopped working I looked in some forums and tried to delete a few install files which could be the issue and bricked it. Had to go to 3.1. Ecid on file with cydia and I follow all the directions but still get error 3002 in iTunes. Any help is greatly appricated. Thanks again everyone.

I am having trouble installing anything from cydia or another installer. Cydia suggested manually correcting (something). Will this method/software take my 3.1.3 3gs 32GB made in week 42 last year back to 3.0? what if I need to restore my phone and itunes wants to install 4.0.2, or can i select the 3.0 as an option? i have everything from 3.0 on on file with the server, or so cydia tell me.
