Added Quick Reply! Now you can quickly reply to incoming SMS messages while your busy in other applications and without waiting for biteSMS to start-up.
Added Privacy, allowing control over whether the Name, Text and Preview window is shown for incoming SMS messages.
Much faster matching of contacts, especially for those users with very large Contact databases (+5000 contacts) – Yippee!
Quicker display of a conversation thread, especially where the conversation contains thousands of SMS messages.
Added auto-correction in settings page per active language, so when you switch keyboards the auto-correction setting for that language will take effect, both in biteSMS and Quick Reply – neat!
Added additional Smiley’s, and made them more quickly accessible (right-swipe in text box):
Added the sub-menu (right-swipe in text box) showing “Add My Location” and Smiley’s to the Landscape mode screen.
When sending an SMS, you can now press the Power or Home keys and it will be sent as expected, without needing to wait for the “sending….” process to complete.
Added functionality such that the Intelliscreen “Launch SMS” feature now works with biteSMS.
Reorganized the settings screen and updated text, so that the settings are easier to understand.
Added an End User License Agreement into biteSMS, which only needs to be acknowledged once.
When you install this version of biteSMS you automatically get a free trial license for 20 days. Then, you can either buy credits which include a license for 12 months, or instead buy a full license, which does not expire. See the biteSMS Website for further details.

Meh… being free is what I loved of this app…

I love BiteSMS & iRealSMS but the reason why i stand with iRealSMS is because the Quickreply feature let you scroll all the message…
biteSMS dont.

So… Does this program need to be running in the background like iRealSMS? I ditched iReal because of that reason. Or does it not really take up that much memory to start causing problems on my phone?
February 10th, 2009 at 9:46 am
Well biteSMS 3.0 won’t be free now.
You need to buy a full license after trial period of 20 days.

anyone know if there is an application that allows sending of free sms? i don’t send a lot but would like to have this option as my carrier charges a lot.

Doesnt play well with MCleaner

Not to thread jack.. but in response to above, irealsms has a toggle switch in the settings to have the app run in the background so you have a choice. The sms daemon doesn’t take up much memory and for a textaholic makes instant loading time a great feature.
I am pleased to see that bitesms has incorporated quick reply which is an amazing feature!

Ireal is a lot more expensive…. biteSMS has worked flawlessly for me. I guess that I will try it out.

February 13th, 2009 at 11:25 am
Added Privacy, allowing control over whether the Name, Text and Preview window is shown for incoming SMS messages.
will this feature be gone after the trial period??
February 14th, 2009 at 7:01 am
Wrong! iRealSMS has the OPTION to run in background but you can disable that in settings (background mode)
February 14th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Nice try guys, no way in hell I’mma pay to send SMS when I can get it fer free through an IM client.
February 14th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
Lol, you pay for SMS either way.. through your carrier or through here.
Plus, SMS is so much easier than IM. It may not be as fast and reliable (is IM reliable?) but it’s the easiest way when you don’t have Internet or the Internet is congested. (e.g. during a hurricane)
I’ll always prefer SMS to IM.

IMO these apps that are “trials” shouldn’t be available on Cydia. This is supposed to be a place for those apps that don’t make it in to the app store. Does anyone actually pay for these?
February 18th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
Cydia hosts apps that Apple will not for whatever reason – mainly because they go against the restrictions Apple keeps in place.
These apps will never be Apple approved, that doesn’t mean the creators/owners do not want compensation for their work.
I DO agree that these trial apps should have their own section in Cydia away from the other apps so that people don’t download them thinking they are completely free (which I have done).

Well put K-Nitsua. That’s more or less what I meant.
Thanks for clarifying.

I agree Cydia should have a trail app section so that users do not waste time on apps and then 10 days later find out the app is useless. I’d rather the choice before installation. Or at the time of installation the app should have to state that it is only a trail app.
February 24th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
How to download and install it ?
February 25th, 2009 at 9:36 pm
Free is what i liked about this app. If you go to installer, it is still v2.7

please add a possibility to add more smileys or then enlarge the smiley-template.
and add the sending confirmation functionality.
with those features added it will be the absolutely winning application.
