If I use the upgrade to 3.0 option in iTunes, what happens to all my jailbreak apps? Do they get lost in the ether or will they be waiting there for me after I use ultrasn0w to jb & unlock?

if you update your 2g iphone to fw 3.0 with itunes 8.2 you should have not problem jailbreaking it and unlocking it using redsn0w and ultrasn0w

It will be updated to the new version, which is 04.26.08. This is the baseband you will need in order to utilize the ultrasn0w unlock. Basically, yellowsn0w is history.

This should help you, ronal:

1.) Go into Cydia
2.) Select the Sections button at the bottom
3.) Move down the Sections until you come to the Repositories
4.) Look for this Repository: RiPDev
5.) Select it
6.) Install it
7.) Select the Changes button at the bottom
8.) You should see Icy as a new package
9.) Select it and install it

Happened to me too. Restore your iPhone and configure it as a new phone DO NOT RESTORE FROM BACK UP then sync your phone. You lose you saved games and texts but that is a small price to pay for Internet. Hope it helps

If I install ultrasn0w, can I still use my AT&T SIM? I don’t need the unlock forever, just while I travel abroad. I think I saw a yell0wsnow toggle in Cydia once that allowed you to turn your unlock on and off… is there something like this for ultrasn0w?

My Iphone told me inactive SIM or a blocked sim. So normally your sim card has a security code, that you have to enter everytime when you switch on your phone (in luxembourg called PIN). So you have to put your simcard in another phone, desactivate this security code in your settings, put your simcard back in your iphone and then it starts without any problem

Could someone please clarify exactly how ultrasnow works once it has been installed? Is there an option to toggle it on & off? The reason I ask is because several posts on various forums state that once ultrasnow is installed 3G must be turned off in order to get a signal. My carrier is Softbank Japan, a non-gsm 3G network, & I need to be able to continue to use this on a day-to-day basis. The unlock feature would only be used when traveling overseas. With my iphone jailbroken but with ultrasnow not installed, if I turn off 3G I can no longer connect to Softbank. Therefore if 3G must be disabled after installing ultrasnow I won’t be able to install it.

i got “2″ 3g 8gb iphone fw 3.0 after i upgrade them to fw 3.0 i`m unable to get edge or 3g service, i can make and received call but i`m not getting any data services, before i was able to get them edge and 3g, i live in dominican republic, i got 2 iphones 3g i`m using 2 carriers in here ORANGE and CLARO DOMINICANA, and after i update to fw 3.0 i has been unable to have data service

PLEASE HELP! I’ve spent the past 5 hours trying to resolve my problem and no luck!

I’ve updated to 3.0, jailbroken with redsn0w and installed ultrasn0w (3g off) and still “no service”!! I’ve done this process step by step multilple times. Tried using .ispw ‘s from different sources thinkin that would help. No luck.
I have also rebooted multiple times with simcard in the device and out. I have toggled with airplane mode. Un-installed and re-installed ultrasn0w (always with 3g off) and still “NO SERVICE”!’

I’ve seen a few other people with the same probl em but no solution. Please help.

hey bigboss, i got push to work and stable signal on tmobile usa with a non active at&t sim. all i did was restore with at&t sim inside, wait for activation, and after instead of restoring as backup, setup as new iphone. it lost signal once and said “no sim installed” but after thatsignal is stable and push works.

Hey, I unlocked my iphone 3g 3.0 just after the release. The unlocking process went on smooth. Here are few observations which I noticed.

1). I am using it with Jawwal, Palestine – sometimes even though the iphone is having full signal, when I dial the number, it says that phone is switched off or not reachable. I tried all the processes including restarting several times, airplane mode trick etc. The problem still persist.

2). Secondly the battery life is significantly reduced! Is this the unlock or software 3.0??? Is there any background app running simultaneously for unlock??

3) my iphone bacame too slow, when i open any game in my iphone it’s going really slow :(

I have not seen anything that mentions QuickPwn or the lack of it coming out.
I have seen redsn0w but was unsure it was the right thing to use.

My redsn0w jailbreak went fine, but abtbackup didn’t really restore anything or tell me anything. ULTRASN0W worked perfectly the very first try. I am missing my 5-ROW Qwerty keyboard which doesn’t seem to work at al. Everything else seems at least twice as fast. I had a lot of trouble with 2.2 jailbreak and unlock (getting it to work). This was a breeze. Thanks DEV-TEAM for all of your hard work. Is there a way to donate to your cause?

I have updated my 3g to firmware 3.0 and also unlocked it with ultrasn0w. it worked great – but within 6 hours – I got “NO SERVICE”, and its been a whole day i am trying to figure out whats going on.

Can any1 help – would appreciate a step by step reply since i am new in this.

I have jailbroken my 3g iPhone with redsnow using a mac. Have any of you found that if the phone has to restart it locks up?? I’ve had this happen just buy powering down the phone it shows the apple icon and locks up. I have to do a restore to fix it. ??? Anyone else??

hello, I Didn’t use ultrasnow but it seems I’ve got some issues with my wifi connexion!
sinice I jailbreaked it with redsn0w, I cant receive call anymore and I’m force to reboot iphone to make it work properly.
For the wifi I’m loosing the signal and I can’t see any network around!!
even when I reboot !
this morning it was working again & it looses the network again !
where is coming from ??

I have to say I forget to switch off the phone during the jailbreak with redsn0w !!
but directly after the jailbreak, everything was working properly!
it seems that issues happen later !
any idea ??

The Instructions are at the top of this page! FCOL – My jailbreak & unlock went flawlessly. I don’t see any real reduction in battery life, although I still seem to have to charge at least once per day. I also find it useful to turn OFF WiFi and Bluetooth, when I don’t need them, extends battery life significantly. BigBoss SBSettings makes this really easy from any app. I can play video for an hour or two, for the kids in the car, and there still is half a charge left. I think for all Apple has crammed into this little space, it’s amazing the battery lasts at all. I just shudder nervously though thinking about what will happen when I have to send it back to them to get the battery replaced. They say 1000 cycles. Taken with a “grain of salt”, I won’t be surprised albeit peeved, if I have to replace the battery shortly after the “year” anniversary of having the 3G. Which is coming up pretty quickly now.

heres what I did . Go to a site (ihackintosh.com) or other – download the 3.0 ipsw file – then download redsn0w. Restore using the shift restore system. Jailbreak using redsn0w using the install cydia option. then enable the wireless from settings and use cydia to download and install ultrasn0w – reboot and you ahould have it. Worked fine for me – one shot !!!

Yea I tried ta jailbreak using redsn0w I cracked it n it putted on me phone Cydia & iccy BUT!!! cydia will not update it’s shit properly some error message constantly came up so I’m guessing It doesn’t work could somebody pls tell me wat the fuck i need to do & I used windows

Hi, I just wanted to add more details. I used my PC with Windows XP. first I did restore and update in itunes, then used redsn0w to jb it. My 3g iphone with OS 2.2 was already jailbroken and unlocked as I was using GSM sim ( IDEA, INDIA )of a company which was not tied up with iphone. My Wifi is working fine only probs is NO SERVICE. Thank you very very much Anonymous. Finally did it. I had to type repo666.ultrasn0w, then choose apt666.ultrasn0w.com. But there is a big hitch. Luckily I use 3 different operators. Now it works only on Vodafone network. Previously I was using Idea networkm but now it shows No Service. Even when I put my Vodafone Sim, first it shows no sim and starts serching and after some time Vodafor In network comes. Something better than nothing. Is there some bugs in using Ultrasn0w in India. By the way here officially only Vodafone and Airtel are tied up with Apple. Even airtel sim does not work. My handset was purchased from Vodafone but my sim was not locked to it as I purchased from somebody else.
Hope a better unlock softwere comes out so I can use it on other sim.

Hi I dont have access to wifi where Iam have broken the phone any way of loading ultras0w, mac file not windows.

I had a quick read through, but not sure if there has been a response to the lack of wi-fi signal after JB. I have a phone that is locked to AT&T but am now in australia, so wouldn’t get wi-fi signal through that anyway (I dont think…)
JB worked fine but it wont accept the Cydia link because there is no wi-fi connection….

i hope an ultrasnow toggle will be provided for sbsettings. i know there is one for bossprefs but i thought sbsettings should be used instead.

By the way I even tried to delete with cydelete, it does not work. Says error uninstalling

try using airplane mode on/off
Also you can take out sim and put it in while phone is switched on…

Hi, guys, I am still having problems with NO SERVICE even after installing ultrasn0w 0.9.1. This is almost 3 weeks now. Fed up using iphone as an ipod only. Pls advise how to get the signal back. Did everything possible, even restored, jb and unlocked atleast 10 times but still NO SERVICE. Looks like BIGBOSS has deserted this blog.

My iphone is from north america. I just bought a crazy john’s sim card but it doesn’t seem to be capable with my iphone before and/or after I used ultrasn0w.

I used the crazy john’s sim card in an Australian iphone and it worked fine. I also tried the ’3′ sim card from that australian iphone in mine but it didn’t work either.

I’m wondering if it’s the North American phone causing the problems, or if it’s the unlock.

Hi, I am hoping someone out here can help me…. I jailbroke my iphone, OS 3.1.3, model MC136LL, firmware 05.12.01 with Spirit on my Mac, and tried to unlock with ultrasn0w. Get an error message that says – “The requested modifications cannot be applied due to required dependencies or conflicts that cannot be automatically found or fixed.”
